The product, in the report: BRYANT SYSTEM

**Subject: Urgent Assistance Required for Heating System Issues**

    Dear Bryant,

I am writing to seek urgent assistance with our Bryant heating system, which is controlled by an Evolution thermostat. We moved into our new home in August 2024 and have been experiencing ongoing issues with both the air conditioning and heating systems.

During our initial inspection, we discovered that the air conditioning was not functioning properly. Additionally, the Evolution thermostat displayed a “system malfunction” error. We began using the heating system as the weather turned colder. Unfortunately, we found that the heat was not working correctly. We had to set the temperature to 80F or higher and keep the fan on high for the system to work temporarily. However, after a few hours, the heat would stop working, and we had to turn off the system and repeat the process.

We contacted Young HVAC LLC, whose contact information we found on your website. The first technician visit was on December 2, 2024. The technician noted the following:

“UNIT WAS FLASHING HIGH UNIT ERROR CODE UPON ARRIVAL. FOUND HIGH EFFICIENT FILTER INSTALLED BACKWARDS. FOUND SIGNS OF BURNERS CANDLING. ADJUSTED GAS PRESSURE ON MODULATING VALVE. RESTARTED UNIT, BURNERS NOW APPEAR NORMAL, ERROR CODE ALSO WENT AWAY. CUSTOMER WILL MONITOR UNIT AND CALL BACK IF PROBLEM PERSISTS. CUSTOMER PAID BY CREDIT CARD $135.”

Despite monitoring the system, it did not work throughout the night, and we had to use portable heaters, causing significant discomfort for my family. I called Young HVAC LLC again the next day as an emergency, but the technician did not arrive until 6:30 PM. The technician’s notes from this visit stated:

“UNINSTALLED EVOLUTION UNIT T’STAT PER CUSTOMER REQUEST. INSTALLED STANDARD PROGRAMMABLE T’STAT. RECONFIGURED WIRING AT FURNACE AND A/C FOR NON-COMMUNICATING T’STAT PER MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTIONS. PERFORMED START-UP ON HEAT CYCLE. HEAT CYCLE STARTED LIKE NORMAL; HOWEVER, INDUCER DRAFT MOTOR IS NOISY BUT WORKABLE. AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES OF RUN TIME ON HEAT CYCLE, HIGH LIMIT IS TRIPPING. UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE AT THIS TIME. WILL NEED TO CALL SUPPORT TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS. CUSTOMER PAID BY CREDIT CARD $125.”

The system worked for a short period but stopped again during the night, leaving us without heat. Upon calling the technician again, he mentioned that the gas pressure was low and advised us to contact the gas company. The gas company identified and removed some clogging. The technician returned but was unable to fix the issue, resulting in another night without heat.

We urgently need a resolution to this problem as my family continues to suffer from the lack of proper heating. Please prioritize our case and provide a permanent solution as soon as possible.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

The product, in the report: Exterior Heat Pump Condenser Unit/ Air handler set. Serial Number 4116E07017. MODEL 280ANV048000EAAA

fuse board fried and killed the compresser. I have been without heat/air for the past 8 days and there is not a solution in sight. Bryant was extremely unhelpful and refused to assist. The supplier stated my product is not under warranty then said it was. I was not informed about this recall. My main fuse breaker also malfunctioned due to the faulty Bryant Condenser. I am going to have to stay at a hotel while my repairs are being done due to extreme weather. I have gone through about 300 dollars of wood to heat my home so far and my husband is disabled/cannot stay in freezing house.

The product, in the report: Air exchanger

I bought the house in 2004 and the air exchanger failed by 2006 within the warranty period. The air exchanger fan motor stopped. When this happened, the unit was hot enough to partially deform the airtight seal. A noticeable smell of outgassing material occurred upon entry in the utility room. A 60 Hz hum was audible simultaneously. The unit was hot to the touch.

The unit was new with the house, installed in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations, and inspected by the City of Saint Paul. It also failed within the warranty period. Previous communications indicated that a repair person would be dispatched at no cost. However, that did not occur. We received an embedded 3 ampere non-replaceable fuze after the unit quit and were notified of a recall. This service does not meet our expectations.

The product, in the report: Bryant Air Handler

June 28, and again on July 11, 2013 about 9pm smoke and fire alarm went off through out my home. Home was filled with acrdi electrical type smoke. Found all the electronics inside the air handler were toast, control boards, regulators, capacitors, and the fan motor too. All the wires were burnt off the controls and connections...there was nothing left inside but ashes.

We were luck was contained inside the unit. Simpson’s the Tampa Fl company who installed new for Ryland Homes 8/2005, said that never should have happened under any circumstances. In fact their tech said he never saw one do that before ever.

Lloyds Air and Heating Tampa area, were sent by my home warranty company...the replaced the components...not sure they good job. 10 days later it caught on fire again.

Simpsons office staff said the Bryant 4ton Puron system had a 10 year warranty, but he tech who called me said it was only 5. Regardless, this is unsafe product and should all be recalled and/or replaced.
