No incident, no one hurt Made Oct 29, 2025, sent to the company Nov 6, 2025, published by CPSC Nov 26, 2025
The product, in the report: Utilitech electric oil filled radiator heater
Came home cut the utilitech oil filled radiator heater on in the middle as usual I’m reading my book I hear sizzle and cracking I look for the sound and find nothing I just happened to look at the outlet and sparks are flying smoke was rising I managed to get it out the socket before it was to hot but I couldn’t save the wall outlet. I now am suffering PTSD I’ve had a few bad run in with fire and now I’m officially triggered and genuinely upset and over conscious of things I have no sense of smell since 2009. So I couldn’t smell it if I wanted to I suffer from tachycardia and anxiety my BP is thru the roof I broke down in tears and am literally afraid to get another heater but that’s unfair for my children now we will be suffering in the cold because of the mental state of fear this has caused me.

No one hurt Made Mar 20, 2015, sent to the company Mar 30, 2015, published by CPSC Apr 13, 2015
The product, in the report: Utilitech Space Heater sold at Lowes Home Improvement (I think its a house brand) Item #0485219 Model# H-7247 DateCode# 0513 The product somehow carries a lab accreditation (Not surprisingly... its not UL listed) with ETL/Intertek #3125218 There is an internal sticked under the light that reads in two lines: LQ13 0377411
Had a space heater running in my bathroom, there was a large arcflash from inside the unit and the 20amp branch circuit feeding my bathroom GFCI’s did its job and tripped.
I opened the space heater and the mains wires are not thermally protected from the ceramic heater element, the “hot” wire was laying directly across the “neutral” wire of the ceramic element terminal. The heat conducted via the terminal caused a breakdown of the insulation that resulted in a direct short.
I infrequently use space heaters, but I am appalled that a company would forgo the 20cents required to thermally insulate the mains wires going past a ceramic heating element.
