The product, in the report: Sunbeam SFH410 heater

I use a space heater in bathroom. One morning the interior of the space heater caught fire. By the time I went to the other room and got the extinguisher, it was already decreasing and extinguished on it’s own. There was no injury or damage to my property.

The product, in the report: PATTON SPACE HEATER Tower Ceramic Heater

Hello, my name is [REDACTED] and I purchased the following PATTON SPACE HEATER from Wal-Mart but manufactured by Jarden Consumer Solutions twice. The space heater almost caused a fire In my home, but did cause my circuit breaker to blow. The heater also caused my skin to experience toasted skin syndrome from the blowing directly on my skin and causing it to burn and discolor. Wal-Mart and Jarden have refused to address this problem, which is why I’m contacting the consumer protection division of the Attorney General’s Office. Wai-Mart stated that due to an agreement that Is the supplier’s responsibility to resolve this issue.

The product, in the report: Smaller space heater

My heater started to smell, so I unplugged it and moved it from the bathroom to the front room. After a few more minutes I smelled it stronger, went into the front room and flames were coming from it. I carried it to the pool and burned thumb and finger slightly. I soaked it in the pool. And I took 2 pictures of it. I threw it away and told my daughter to throw the one I bought her away as well. Mine was white and hers was red. I got a phone call today saying it’s been recalled and could get refunds. I no longer have either heater but I do have 2 pics of mine after it burned. How can I get a refund? I can’t send in the cords because we threw them away.

we had a Sunbeam ceramic heater in our bedroom. Model number SCH4062-WM2. we were very careful to make sure nothing flammable was near the unit due to a chance of fires. I put my daughter down to sleep at 9:30pm and turned on the heater because the room was cold. i went out to use the computer prior to going to bed. 10 minutes later the fire alarm went off. I rushed into the room to find it full of smoke and the back of the heater on fire. my husband quickly grabbed our fire extinguisher from the kitchen and put out the fire. thankfully we were all sleeping and our fire alarm was working or this could have ended badly for us. upon closer inspection of the unit, you could see that the inside of the unit had caught fire. this could be very dangerous for others owning the same unit as me.

On January 15, 2013, [REDACTED] was in her office when the electrical portable heater she was using began to make a noise and sparks began shooting out of the heater. She called for help and I along with another co-worker rushed to her office and and unplugged the heater. The electrical cord and plug end of the heater were hot to the touch and an electrical burn smell emitted from the heater. Along the back bottom corner of the heater, there was an area where smoke had turned the plastic black.

The product, in the report: Heater

Our Sunbeam Model SQH310 Portable Heater tends to overheat and trip off. Now I notice that the cord is getting quite hot. Almost too hot to touch. I found similar complaints at WalMart.com and other sites. One person at viewpoints.com wrote that one unit’s cord melted while another unit caught fire.

My heater is over a year old, so it is too late to return it, but I think with the number of problems reported, the product should be investigated.

The product, in the report: Sunbeam electric space heater model # SQH310

I purchased 2 sunbeam space heaters from Walmart in selma, ca. Model number SQH310. I used one last January when i noticed that the prong on the power cord from the heater had gotten hot and melted and burned the plastic around the prong on the plug. I immediately quit using the heater and put it away thinking it was a fluke or power surge that caused it. Fast forward to 12/23/2012. I pulled out the second unit that I had purchased that had not yet been used and plugged it in and about 30 minutes later was going to be leaving so I went to unplug the unit and the power cord at the outlet was hot to the touch! Once the plug was removed from the outlet the metal prong on this unit had gotten so hot that it melted the plastic on the plug and left black burn marks on the wall outlet. Not only was this problem found in two different heating units but this happened in two different homes!!!!”,

The product, in the report: Flat Panel Heater with Digital Thermostat

I was trying to figure out why my medium room ceramic heater from Sunbeam was just blowing out cold air. I took the front panel off and saw that the middle (black) wire that connects to the heating element had burn marks on it. I lightly pulled it and the wire broke off of the terminal. Upon closer inspection the other wires that come into contact with the black heating element wire were also scortched. I believe this could have caught fire if it had been left on for a long period of time. The product was made in China, Manufacturer is Sunbeam Products, Inc. doing business as Jarden Sonsumer Solutions. The model number is SCH2100.

The product, in the report: small almond color housing with white button on black face. Has options for different temp. settings. High and low. (electric heater)

I have a Sunbeam Model: SFH442 small electric heater called 1touch. Address on bottom says Boca Raton, FL 33431. I plugged it in and within a few minutes the socket got extremely hot as well as the plug on the cord. The plug has a built in reset button but it never tripped. I was so afraid of a fire that I unplugged it and never used it again. I’m so glad that I was right there and had to unplug the heater to move it. I know my home would have been burned down if I hadn’t had to move it and feel how hot everything was. I am disabled and have a Service Dog and a cat I would have lost, maybe as well as my life. I am VERY concerned about this. Other people that are using this device may have their home burned down too. It was so hot when I went to unplug it, I had to use a oven mitt because when I touched it, it burned my fingers.

Sunbeam Quartz Heater Model SQH310 Purchased 1 year ago at WalMart in Cleveland Ohio. Heater smelled burnt , kicked circuit breaker off and quit working. I opened the back and found 2 burned wires that had melted and burned in half. The cord was fine the internal wires were smaller gauge than the heater cord. Could have started a fire but I had it hooked up to a ground fault circuit that tripped.
