The product, in the report: Soleil rotating heater, model LH-918. All the company information listed below to include the phone number I took from the website. The website only mentions. Geneva Industrial Group, Inc. The product information I got from the data label on the bottom of the heater. I took four pictures, 2 of them show the hole in the plastic housing next to the selection knob, the other 2 show the QC label and the data label.
The plastic housing melted and began smoking, created a small hole, 1/4 inch, to the base. One week earlier the coil seemed to get brighter and hotter. The area that melted has always been hot to the touch so I never leave the heater running when I leave the bathroom.

The product, in the report: Soleil Digital Ceramic Heater Model #PTC-915W (Date Code 0521) sold by Walmart
On November 27yh, 2021 I purchased a Soleil Digital Ceramic Heater Model #PTC-915W (date code 0521) from Walmart in Cheboygan, Michigan 49721. The heater was purchased for supplemental heat in my seasonal cabin. The heater was used two times, once in late November 2021 and during the evening of January15th, 2021. The heater was operated on the low setting throughout the night. At approximately 4am on Sunday January 16th I awoke from sleeping and was a little chilled. At this point I changed the heater setting to High and went back to bed. I woke up at 7am to the smell of burning plastic and discovered that the heater had stopped working. I examined the end of the plug which incorporates a GFI and discovered that one of the prongs was melted and that the plastic receptacle was melted and burned on the hot leg (small slot). The 15amp breaker for this circuit in the load center was tripped. This heater was brand new and not modified in any way. I examined the receptacle for correct wiring, making sure there wasn’t a loose Hot, Neutral or ground wire. All wires were wrapped around the attaching screws and all screws were tight. I replaced the burnt receptacle and cover. I reset the 15amp breaker and plugged a different non-ceramic heater into the plug. The prongs on the non-ceramic heater never got hot and the heater performed correctly.

The product, in the report: Black painted wood and metal digital control infrared heater.
My son purchased two Soleil Infrared Cabinet heaters from Walmart on line. They were purchased last year and have been waiting until it got cold to be put in use. One worked fine, the other for 3 days wouldn’t stay at consistent temperature (varied about 10 degrees), On the third day when entering room, the room smelled and the heated had shut down. When looking for source the plug had started to melt and had melted some of the outlet draft insulation. Placing the the other header in the same outlet did not cause a heating issue. My concern is the potential fire hazard of this product.

The product, in the report: Infrared Space Heater, cabinet style
I have a Soleil Infrared Heater Model # PH-91 F. I was using it on Dec 6th when I turned it off after I notice a slight burning smell. The electrical outlet was scorched and the plug on the unit was slightly chard. I reached out to the company by phone 12/9 and by email 12/10 and 12/17 with no response. I have pictures if requested. This could have been a tragedy if I fell asleep or left it unattended.

The product, in the report: Soleil Ceramic Heater model PTC-910B, approx size 10in x 8in.
Soleil Ceramic Heater (PTC-910B) approximate size 10in x 8in. Went to relocate unit to other side of room and noticed the plastic from the electrical cord plug had melted and dripped down the prong almost into the electrical socket. Felt very lucky to notice it before any possible fire.

The product, in the report: White electric radiant space heater.
We bought an electric space heater about 2 months ago. Brand: Soleil. Model: LH-878.
Yesterday, the device sparked internally, and the termostat/on-off switch no longer worked. The tilt safety switch also no longer worked; the heater continued running even when tipped over. The only way to turn off the heater was to pull the plug.
This is an obvious fire hazard. Thankfully, my wife discovered it immediately, so no actual damage happened.

The product, in the report: Electric, portable, space heater.
This space heater would not shut off. I unplugged it and picked it up to get it out of the house. When picking it up, I heard a rattle in side. Thinking that this was the problem I took it apart to find that the counter weight that turns the unit off if tipped over was installed wit a clear plastic fitting that had melted and the weight had fallen off. buy using plastic that could melt instead of metal makes this unit a time bomb for fire or death!

No one hurt Made Dec 5, 2012, sent to the company Dec 26, 2012, published by CPSC Jan 10, 2013
The product, in the report: Electric, portable, space heater. Apx. 2.5 feet long. Black, digital thermostat and timer, tip-over cut-off, mesh grille, no fan. No serial number.
Electric portable heater labeled under “Soleil” brand. Model LH-875A, date code 0810, 120volt, 60hertz, 1500watt, Made by Shanghi Limach Manufacturing. No serial number listed. This heater served me well, but in the last few uses, I noted an orange glow from on of the small wire elements inside. I had not seen this before. I started unplugging it after use. Tonight, on low setting, automatic mode, set to 70 degrees, the heater clicked on, and orange and blue small flames and sparks started shooting from the bottom toward my carpet, and flashing out of the top, at the same location I saw the consistent orange glow, about four inches from the left end of the actual element inside the case. It was also crackling. I jumped up, and pulled the very warm plug out of the wall. I have never reported a product defect before, but never had one that nearly burned my house down. I read about this heater online, which with all reviews, must be taken with a grain of salt. (Everyone online thinks they are an expert). But I did notice that Home Depot, where I purchased the product, had terrible customer reviews for this particular unit, nearly all stating that it had failed at some point, a HUGE failure rate. Other similar heaters by different manufacturers, had consistently high ratings. I am concerned these units may lead to other incidents. Had I been using it in my bedroom and sleeping, it almost certainly would have caught the carpet on fire. I do not have the box or receipt, but I did purchase it in-store from a local Home Depot in the fall of 2010. It worked well until recently. It is used a few nights a week in either my master bedroom or living room, to take the chill out of the air. This incident occured in my living room, with it installed about a foot from my glass patio door, no where near drapes or other compustables. And using common sense, was plugged directly into a standard, grounded, 120 volt outlet, no extention cord or “power strip.” I have good electrical knowledge, and know that would be terribly dangerous. There was no outside infulence from water, dampness, etc. That is what got me so upset, since the only fault of this near blaze was that of the heater itself. I am saving the unit, obviously not being used after this. I would be happy to ship it for inspection, as I am certain the same result will be recreated as soon as it is powered on. Any further questions, I am happy to oblige. I work during business hours, so e-mail is the best way to reach me. I appreciate your time and consideration. Happy Holidays.
