The product, in the report: Scott Living 1500-Watt Infrared Quartz Tower Electric Space Heater Model 1224HI-12-243

I purchased a Scott Living 1500 watt infrared electric tower heater (item# 0857272) from Lowe’s on 10/12/19 for supplemental heat on cold days and it caught fire. It filled our house with black smoke and burnt through our floor. Luckily, we were able to contain the fire quickly. The heater is supposed to have safety features to automatically shut off if it overheats, but that did not happen. We followed the instructions and used the heater properly.

The product, in the report: Scott Living Infrared Tower Space Heater

Investigated a residential fire involving a tower-type portable space heater. The fire clearly originated within the electrical components at the base of the unit. Fortunately, it burned itself out before discovery since there were no nearby combustibles to support fire spread.
