The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Oct 16, 2020, sent to the company Dec 2, 2020, published by CPSC Dec 16, 2020

The product, in the report: Black oil filled heater, looks like a radiator. With a silver and black operating panel, and a black and white remote. The unit model number is AH-450B. The dimensions advertised are 15.2” x 6.5” x 26.1”.

I purchased a NewAir Oil-Filled Heater (model #AH-450B) on Sept 25, 2020. I inspected the heater when it arrived and tested the advertised safety features, such as the auto shut-off in case the unit tips over. The unit did not turn off at all and in fact continued to heat. When I contacted the manufacturer about my safety concern, they sent me a replacement unit. The advertised safety features for this unit also did not work. When I tested the replacement unit that I received Oct 16th, 2020, the heater didn’t shut off if if I tipped it over or if I knocked it down fully, and still continues to heat while knocked down. This is a huge fire hazard, and in this case it’s possible the other safety feature advertised (that is an auto shut off feature for if the unit overheats) would not work either.
