Hurt, no treatment Made Dec 9, 2023, sent to the company Dec 13, 2023, published by CPSC Dec 28, 2023
The product, in the report: Mainstays Personal Mini Electric Ceramic Heater 400W Indoor, Black Manufacturer Part Number: MH-16B Link: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Personal-Mini-Electric-Ceramic-Heater-400W-Indoor-Black/531643181
The (Walmart) Mainstays Personal Mini Electric Ceramic Heater 400W is dangerously designed. It has a metal front grille that gets hot enough to cause burns, while the unit is light enough that turning the switch off requires grasping it in a way likely to cause further injuries. I received a minor burn from merely brushing against the front momentarily when the heater was sitting on the floor in a normal operating setup.

The product, in the report: Mainstays Ceramic Heater model MH-16B
The power cord began to spark and caught fire. It did not self-extinguish, I had to unplug the heater and blow out the fire.
This happened where the cord meets the heater. I’ve only had the heater for a few months.

No one hurt Made Oct 24, 2021, sent to the company Oct 27, 2021, published by CPSC Nov 10, 2021
The product, in the report: Plastic Space heater
Space heater spontaneously caught fire in my basement and could have burned my house down. It was plugged in but not even running. In a matter of minutes it caught fire, and engulfed my basement and first floor in thick black smoke. Fortunately, this device was sitting on my concrete basement floor, about 6” from the bottom step, apparently just far enough away to not set the stairs on fire. I Inhaled a bunch of black smoke putting out the fire. Had this device been anywhere else in my 100 year old home, I would not have a home this evening.
