  1. No one hurt

Made Feb 9, 2021, sent to the company Mar 2, 2021, published by CPSC Mar 16, 2021

The product, in the report: fan/heater (electric) grey in color about 14in. by 10in. by 6in. Called Aloha breeze fan heater, model 01013 date 07/04, volts 120 hz 60, watts 1500, amps 12.5, serial no. 11432, PO# 2801117895,

It was cold and my wife was using the heater in the garage while she was working. The heater burned a wire and stopped working. I was looking online for parts to fix it when the recall notice appeared. We have never had trouble with it before and we use it every year though not continuously. Nobody was hurt and no property damage took place. Can we get parts to fix it? it has been a nice little heater?

The product, in the report: Aloha Fan Heater Model 1013

I just found out that the Aloha 1013 fan heater should be returned to Walmart. I am glad to hear this because today my unit sparked from where the line cord exits the back of the unit. After investigation I found that the two wires exiting thru the plastic cord clamp on the rear of the unit were melted thru to the wires and they shorted against each other. The reason for this is because the wires heat up and are compressed so tightly by the clamp that over time the wire insulation gets soft and melts which in turn exposes the wires. The more pulling and yanking on the cord will accelerate this break down. Fortunately the unit was not on flammable material and the sparks did not ignite. I will return the unit to Walmart so that they can destroy it appropriately.

  3. No one hurt

Made Feb 10, 2012, sent to the company Feb 21, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 6, 2012

The product, in the report: 1500 Watt Utility electrical Heater, Dual range 1300 & 1500 watts, safety thermal cutoff

The product is a “ FlowPro”, Utilty Heater, 1500 Watt, Model #83030. Distributed by Aloha, Arlington,TX. The PO# is 001204 and the C/NO. is 02325-3600 of 3600. Also marking on the box label “44200JX100106”. It bought to replace an old 1500 watt heater in a seperate garage. It did a good job of heating, but did not cycle on and off. Today was a warm day and the heater was still on and no setting of the temperature control would turn it off. I then turn it on each side and front and back without it stop heating. I am a retired EE and took it apart to see what was wrong. I found the points were burnt away and signs of over heating. The weight could not move the “arm”, which had become very stiff. Turning the temperature control could not move the “arm”. If the heater had been turn over, I belivethe way the “arm” warped, there would have been NO SAFETY THERMAL CUT-OFF from the thermial arm. Potential for a fire would be very great if laying on the front with the heater coils less than an inch away from a contact point.
