The product, in the report: electric fire place with remote control
(12/25/14) The fireplace was in the “off” position. The plug was in the wall and the consumer was attempting to turn on the fireplace using the remote, but it would not come on. She then tried moving the electric cord around and she heard what resembled a sizzling sound. She also saw smoke and noticed a burning odor from the receiver. The top portion of the receiver has melted. The damage was definitely limited to the receiver. The consumer immediately unplugged the receiver.
There were no injuries.
(12/26/14) The consumer was searching the Internet and she found the recall CAP# 10-167. Her model number and the date of purchase appear to match the recall.
