The product, in the report: Hampton Bay Charles Mill Electric Fireplace - Dark Wood with cabinets on each side of the fireplace
My husband and I purchased a Hampton Bay Charles Mill Electric Fireplace about 18 months ago at Home Depot. Last fall while watching TV and enjoying our electric fireplace we smelled a burning smell and shortly afterwards the electric fireplace stopped working. Last month I was disconnecting a speaker system connected to a power outlet I had tucked behind the electric fireplace and I discovered the power cord to the fireplace was burned into the power cord. This was very upsetting and hard to see. Our entire apartment building could have burned. I have photo’s of the power cord and power outlet should you like to see them.

The product, in the report: Portable Fireplace
Caller stated that the portable fireplace caught fire approximately 2 hours after it was in use, causing the electrical wiring to melt and the receptacle was burnt , it was immediately unplugged. 10/2014 He contacted the retailer and was advised that he would receive a replacement. He received the replacement 11/2014, however, he is concerned of the safety of the unit that this incident will not re-occur. Caller feels that this fireplace is a potential fire hazard and should be reported.
