The product, in the report: Electric fireplace insert
12/4/2024: The fireplace insert began smoking and the components inside caught fire. The fireplace had been in use about 45 minutes.
The consumer immediately turned it off and unplugged it from the wall outlet. The fire died out afterwards. She opened the windows to air out her home, and the fire department was not needed.
• The fireplace was inside of an old brick fireplace, which prevented further damage.
11/2024: The fireplace insert stopped working. When it was plugged into the wall outlet, it appeared to be turned on by the lights, but it did not work. The consumer had a friend, who is an electrician examine it. He removed the top cover and found burned wires. He soldered the wires and advised the consumer to “ONLY” use this product on the lowest setting.”
The electrician told her that: With the fan in operation and the heating element working at the same time, it is too much of a power overload for this product.
The consumer contacted the company, but was told her product is out of warranty.
