The product, in the report: Duraflame Infrared Quartz Electric Stove Heater, Black
My daughter plugged in this unit and a few minutes after it was turned it on it began shooting sparks to the right side. She immediately unplugged it and saw that the cord was fried. Thank goodness she was standing nearby or it could have set my house on fire. I contacted the company yet haven’t received a response to date. This could have been deadly.

The product, in the report: Dura-Flame Electric Fireplace Model DF1020ARU
The consumer indicates that he entered his dining room and I noticed the faint burning smell after I tried to start the unit. The consumer tried to turn on his fireplace by its switch but it would not do so; he then tried to use its remote to turn it on but it wouldn’t. The consumer unplugged the fireplace and heard rattling coming from inside after he picked it up. When the consumer dismantled the unit, an orange electrical cap that was loose fell out. The consumer picked up the cap and noticed that it was charred. The consumer kept inspecting the unit and saw two or three wires that were also burnt.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; the representative he spoke to informed him that they will not be assisting him because of the age of the unit and because it was no longer under warranty; he was also informed his model is no longer manufactured.
The consumer states that the unit was used during cold weather four or five times out of the week for about one to three hours each time.
The consumer plans on keeping his fireplace for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: Electric fireplace stove with remote
Own Duraflame Electric Fireplace, few years old, was in other room when I heard a loud pop and wasn’t sure what it was. Horrible fumes started to fill my kitchen, where stove was, saw smoke coming from stove and flames inside. I immediately unplugged stove and carried it out to my outdoor deck, fumes made me nauseous after carrying outdoors, whole first floor smelled. Luckily I wasn’t opening door to stove at time I would have been seriously injured especially where flames where inside. I recovered from nausea shortly after. I looked on line and saw no other complaints regarding this model but did want to inform you so it doesn’t hurt someone. Glad I wasn’t injured.
