The product, in the report: Trane xl824 smart thermostat

We have Trane brand home thermostats for our hvac units in our home. Our upstairs thermostat malfunctioned. It was set to 70 and the thermostat read 70as the inside temperature. However, it never stopped pumping hot air. Our upstairs rooms got up to 112 as read on an instant read thermometer. As this was a different unit than our downstairs we had no clue as the rest of the house was a comfortable temperature. If a baby or pet was sleeping up there they would have died.
