The product, in the report: LUX programable thermostat PSP511La

On 12/21/2011 the Norwich Fire Dept responded to an alarm at the [REDACTED] in Norwich, NY. A heat sensor on our alarm system triggered the alarm. The room temperature according to the fire dept was 125 degrees. It turns out that the termostat had held the furnace on without shutting off. Upon close examination I saw that a low battery indicator was flashing.. No beep or other signal to advise us. This is a dangerous situation and without the alarm system the fire dept said we might have lost the building. I think this might be a matter for a recall by the consumer protection agency. [REDACTED] I arrived on the scene just moments after the fire department had entered the building. They had a lock box to allow emergency entry. They informed me that one furnace failed to shut down. I located the thermostat and shut it off disengaging the furnace infront of members of the Norwich Fire Department, Norwich, NY. The LUX company has been very accomidating during this period and has offered to pay for expenses involved with the incident. They have requested the return of the thermostat and batteries in use at the time for non destructive testing. Subsequent to this information...the manufactuer has sent 2 new thermostats to us to replace the one which malfunctioned in the studio.
