The product, in the report: Inflatable pool water slide

The 66” tall, 140 lbs., consumer was sliding down the water slide, head first and on her stomach. The consumer hit her stomach against the edge of the pool, which was covered by the edge of the inflatable slide. She sustained bruises to the front right and left sides of her hip bones from the incident. There was bruising, but the consumer treated herself at home.

This prompted the consumer to search the Internet and that is when she found out that this mfr’s pools had been recalled.

6/2015: The consumer contacted her local Wal-Mart in AZ. The retailer’s rep. told her that the bar code that she had did not come up in their system. The rep. suggested that the consumer contact the mfr.

The caller contacted ToyQuest, which is the firm listed on her slide’s packaging. The caller spoke to a representative who informed her that the recall is over. The consumer then sent an e-mail (customerservice@toysinquiry.com) to the company. The consumer was sent a reply stating “..Please note that the recall on your product stopped in 2012. Sorry we will not be able to assist you with this matter.” The email was signed from Toys Inquiry (1-800-434-6178).

(date unknown) During another instance, one of her children were on the slide and it began to deflate and caused the child to fall off of it. However, the child was not injured.

(date unknown) During another instance, another one of her children was on the slide, when it started to deflate. The child fell off of hit and hit the concrete, but was not injured.

    * Since these instances occurred prior to her finding out about the recall, the consumer thought that the air pump might have malfunctioned or wasn’t set up properly. After finding out about the recall, she became aware of other people who experienced problems with these slides.

NOTE: The consumer purchased one slide and liked it so much that she purchased a 2nd slide. She has 4 children, which allowed the slides to be used more frequently.

6/2015: The consumer contacted CPSC in an attempt to get some assistance with this matter.

Summer is supposed to be a time to spend with family and fun cooling off by the pool. We purchased this SLIDE ‘N SOAK SPLASH PARK model number 35076 for our children this month and have had to stop using it immediately due to children being injured. Children are not able to go down the water slide without getting scratched/injured by the stitching. As soon as the children asked us if they could wear life jackets so their backs don’t get scratched we immediately discontinued use and notified the manufacturer, Toys Inquiry.

The product, in the report: double drop fall water slide

The consumer stated that they were using the double drop water slide and one of the children noticed that there was water leaking inside the sleeve that connects to the blower. The consumer stated that it was a high amount of water that was going inside where the blower was located.

The consumer stated that one of the children immediately turned off the blower.

The consumer stated that no one was injured.

The consumer stated that she contacted the manufacturer and they told her that they could not do anything for her. The consumer stated the representative asked her to recreate the scene to take pictures. The consumer stated that she asked the representative to provide her report to her quality control department.

The consumer stated that she exchanged emails with one of the managers from the manufacturer and she informed her that they could not provide any replacements. The consumer stated that the representative informed her that it most of been that the issue arise due to the fact that they did not properly stored the slide after use.

    * A couple of items report does not reflect – - Water was pouring into the blower. - Consumer was asked to recreate the scene in order to take good pictures which would involve danger of electrocution. Consumer refused to recreate the scene. A manager later told consumer they should not have asked consumer to do that. - Manager had no interest in their quality assurance looking at product which consumer volunteered to send back. She basically said that while they try to keep products safe, they can’t guarantee it. She focused blame on consumer saying (consumer) must not have stored it properly. Consumer stored the product properly last winter + it is one year old. [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: bonzai falls water slide

my wife and i bought a bonzai falls water slide at wal-mart in 2007, we used it one weekend with the grandkids 4th of july, it was very unstable and never held its air pressure, we were not the hit of the party like we thought we would be, after i bottomed out on my back. we took it down, folded it up, stuck it up in the loft in the garage and thats where it has been ever since, we just chalked it up to a bad idea investment and cut our losses of about 300.00, we now learn there is a recall of this product, however, our model is the bigger one... “ bonzai falls water slide”... the one the recall mentions states .. .”.pool slide”... i do not see any difference as ours could also be set up next to a pool and we did have it set up on a hard surface that 4th of july weekend. i believe these products are dangerous, as we had adult supervision that day as children and adults were both using the slide for the short time until we made the decision to take it down.
