As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Oct 3, 2014, sent to the company Oct 14, 2014, published by CPSC Oct 28, 2014

The product, in the report: 125cc Coolster atv kids model

125 cc Coolster atv gas tank leaking fuel on hot engine. I have a 2013 model, which has a shutoff valve screwed into the bottom of the tank. The threads have Teflon tape wrapped around them to keep valve tight but gasoline eats up tape and gas leaks out. This valve is right above head on engine. You can shut the valve off but gas keeps leaking because it is threaded into gas tank. This is a fire hazard. Also, when you leave atv in garage it keeps leaking. This is very dangerous for kids to be operating. This company should do a recall immediately on this problem. I called my dealer where I bought the atv. He said he had problems with others that leaked. He said I need to buy a new tank with a valve, he also said they changed the design with a welded tube to tank and a valve that was mounted away from engine. So I bought a new tank with valve, but the new one I got was just like old tank that leaked. I thought it might be ok, valve seemed to be tight so I installed this new tank and I didn’t leak right away, but after it sat for an hour, guess what it started leaking again. I called my dealer and he would talk to his supplier about this problem. He called me back and said they would send a updated tank. Waited a couple of weeks, never received a tank, called dealer again was surprise that I didn’t receive tank. He said he will call his supplier again. I have not heard anything since. This design on this old tank will cause a fire in a building and cause injury on a child operating this atv. I have looked at new design on a newer 125cc coolster , it is a lot better design. Hopefully this will be taken care of.
