The product, in the report: VIN: [REDACTED]

The consumer said he purchased the ATV used from another person. The ATV had about 2,630 miles. The ATV was recalled (recall # 12-709) and received the recall remedy.

(1/18/16) The consumer had poured gasoline in the fuel tank. The consumer noticed a gasoline odor and upon inspecting the ATV the consumer noticed the fuel tank had a hole and there was gasoline on the ground.

The consumer believes the fuel tank has inadequate protection from the exhaust. The consumer believes the hot exhaust melts a hole in the plastic fuel tank. The consumer believes the ATV poses a fire hazard and should be recalled for this safety hazard.

The consumer has noticed complaints online about this issue with similar ATV’s. The consumer plans to contact the firm about assistance with repairs.

(9/15/15 approximately) The consumer states the last time he used the ATV he noticed a gasoline odor while riding. The consumer thought the odor was due to pressure in the fuel tank.

The product, in the report: 2011 can am outlander 800 xt

For the second time in the 8 months that i have had my atv’ it is in the shop to have the fuel tank replaced. The heat from the unit is burning a hole into the top of the tank. I filled it up yesterday and after doing so, i saw gas dripping underneath,. I looked and sure enough the gas was coming out of the top running down the sides of the tank. My concern is that this is a fire hazard. I have seen multiple reports online in atv forums, so my case is not the only one. In my first case of this i didnt catch it so early and dirt got into the tank causing the fuel pump to eventually go out while i was riding.
