The product, in the report: Yamaha YFZ 450 R Blue, black & white
2025 Yamaha YFZ 450R. I purchased a brand new 2025 YFZ 450R ATV on May 18th, 2025, from a dealer in Florida. Since purchasing the ATV I have road the Unit 5 times. When I bought the bike, I was told there is an 8-10 hour break in period. I noticed the Exhaust was extremally hot from when I first started the bike but thought it was normal due to break in period. once the break in period was over, I rode the ATV as I race [REDACTED] and wear all the proper gear, I noticed my inner calf was burnt. a week later I rode the ATV again and was burned again. I called the dealer, and they explained this is normal as the bike is “ Fuel injected”. I did my research and invested in a heat exhaust wrap for the exhaust and had the exhaust wrapped. I rode the bike again and was burned again so badly that I had to leave and go get burn cream. two weeks later once my burn was healed, I rode the unit again which will be July 27th, and hour into the ride my leg was so burned my skin started to bubble. I reached out to Yamaha and have a case open to have them look into the bike, but they haven’t done anything yet. This bike is unsafe as the exhaust gets too hot. I have reached out to an attorney due to my severe burns.

The product, in the report: 2021 Yamaha kodiak 700 green
My atv footrest plastic snapped when stepping on atv after few months of Purchase my warranty fixed it. Few months later I went on a ride in snap again causing the plastic to get hung up On something while I was riding at rip The foot rest off causing my foot to be yanked back which caused me to Loose control And have an accident where I was injured. The foot rest was the same one that broke the first time broke the second when I had my wreck so it obvious it’s a manufacture issue.

The product, in the report: 2016 Yamaha 700 Kodiak
I recently purchased a 2016 Yamaha 700 ATV. After riding for 15 minutes or so, the plastic panel on the driver’s left side of the ATV generated to much heat that it was too hot to touch and you literally had to move your left leg out away from the ATV. I took the plastic cover off and noticed that the heat is generated by the muffler which exits the front of the engine and the travels along the left side of the ATV to exhaust out the back. It is my opinion that it is a design flaw by Yamaha that they have not done enough to shield the driver from the heat generated by the muffler. I googled this topic in Yamaha chat forums for owners and noticed that this issue is frequently cited. I tried adding more reflective taping to the inside of the plastic cover to shield against the extreme heat but the impact was minimal. I spoke with the dealer and asked if they had had other complaints about this issue and it was obvious that they had however, his response was that it wasn’t as bad as one of the Polaris models and that it isn’t as bad if you drive faster vs. slower. They have agreed to allow me to trade it back in for a different model without losing to much money so good for the dealership but my issue is with Yamaha. In my opinion and in the opinion of many other Yamaha Kodiak 700 owners this is a design flaw by Yamaha that has consumer safety implications.
Thanks.

The product, in the report: 2003 Yamaha Grizzly 660 ATV
I have a 2003 model Yamaha Grizzly 660 ATV that quite often the gasoline gets so hot in the gas tank that it boils. My ATV is in good condition and well maintained. Recently I have found extensive reports on the internet of many others having the same problem. In my opinion this is a very serious design flaw that is extremely dangerous and Yamaha seems to ignore the problem. I have never received any recall notice or any indication that Yamaha acknowledges the problem.

The product, in the report: 4 wheel 24 volts atv
(06/12/2013) The consumer stated that her five year old daughter was on the atv for about 30 minutes. She was going up a small incline when the battery ran out. The consumer told her daughter to push the pedal to make it go. When her daughter pushed the pedal, the atv kept rolling backwards. The consumer instructed her to turn the wheels to the left; the atv was still going backwards. Her daughter ended up backing into a tree. A branch caught in the metal rack that is on the back of the seat. Her daughter was not injured or hurt.
(06/13/2013) The consumer stated that her son and daughter were on the atv at the same time. Her four year old son was driving. He was going straight and turned to the left. When she turned to the left, the battery cut out again. The atv started to roll backwards. The consumer instructed him to push the pedal. The atv kept rolling backwards. Her daughter jumped off of the atv. Her son stayed on the atv which went down the hill into the woods. The atv flipped over on top of him. The consumer stated that he got a couple of bruises.
The consumer stated that she flipped the atv over to get it off of her son. When she pushed the gas to get the atv up the hill, the atv started spinning. The back right tire caught her left toe and ripped off her toenail. The consumer did not get medical treatment.
The consumer stated that there is an indicator on the atv that shows the power of the battery. The indicator was on green. When the battery is low, it shows red.
