  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 26, 2012, sent to the company Jul 6, 2012, published by CPSC Jul 20, 2012

The product, in the report: A ride on electric toy ATV

Grandson (6) was riding the Peg Perego Polaris Sportsman XP850 when he failed to stop in time and ran into the bench I was sitting on. I scolded the boy with him protesting that it wasn’t him controling it. It happened again a short period later (running into the bench) and I scolded the boy with his protest once again sounded. This time I took the unit and test it and sure enough the boy was speaking the truth. The Peg Perego Polaris Sportsman XP850 pedal was “sticking” in the on position. I noticed that there was dirt near and on the pedal (we have very sandy soil). After I doused that area with water the problem went away. That pedal assembly was replaced a few weeks later due to it failing to engage the higher speed. So I no longer have that pedal assembly. No one was hurt or injured.
