The product, in the report: Arctic Cat Wild Cat 1000X
The submitter attended an exhibition hosted by Polaris in Glamis, California. The submitter said he rode the unit on and off all day. Towards the end of the evening the submitter’s son rode the unit and the unit caught on fire. The submitter said his son rode the unit for less than 30 minutes before it caught on fire. The submitter indicated that the exhaust pipe became extremely hot, melting the plastic fender and when the plastic dripped onto the exhaust it caused a fire.
The submitter contacted the firm on Monday and informed them of the incident. The submitter was told that his unit was not recalled but he could take it to a local dealer. He was also told that the dealer would take pictures and send them to the firm for further investigation. The submitter said the unit is still at the dealer and he has not heard from the firm.
The submitter purchased the unit used approximately a year ago.

Atv - 2012 Arctic Cat 700i Mud Pro LTD
I was driving forward in a straight line, in 4x4 mode. When, all of a sudden, the front wheel had completely locked up. I was thrown over the handle bars, and the atv had flipped forward and landed on my. The result is that i have two fractures in my pelvis and lower back issues.
I had noticed that Arctic Cat has had a recall on similar models back in 2008 and 2009 for the exact same issue.

The product, in the report: Arctic Cat 500 TRV VIN # {REDACTED] recreational vehicle 4 wheel automatic shift
I was returning from a hunting trip going down a gravel service road at approximatly 25 mph. The ATV suddenly locked up and through me forward almost over the handle bars. I tried to accelerate forward but it would not move at first. I finally was able to reverse it and unlock the front differential. I went 5-10 mph the next 8 miles until I reached my truck and trailer. No injury luckily, but I was paying attention and wearing full body safety gear. Once to my truck I examined the front differential and noticed the differential housing was completely cracked in half. The machine is a 2008 Arctic Cat 500 TRV Vin # [REDACTED]. I conducted all recommended maintenance as recommended by manufacturer instructions. The differential had been serviced within the past few months and I did not know the initial reason for failure. I found there is an existing recall but it doesn’t cover my production number currently. This may be an issue for others and could lead to death or serious injury. I am currently in contact with Northern Powersports in Fairbanks Alaska working to resolve the issue and see if the manufacturer will cover vehicle repair expense due to faulty manufacturing of parts.

Hurt, no treatment Made Apr 9, 2013, sent to the company Apr 17, 2013, published by CPSC May 1, 2013
The product, in the report: 2008 Arctic Cat ATV 700 H1 SE Silver, fuel injected Quad
I have a 2008 Arctic Cat ATV 700 H1 SE. While the driver was operating the ATV, the front axle locked up throwing the driver over the handlebars causing days of discomfort, but luckily no serious injury. I have since read online that hundreds of Arctic Cat customers who purchased 2008 Arctic Cat ATV’s have experienced this same dangerous situation and it is due to the fact that during this 2008 model run, the pin in the axle was not welded properly. It received a small tack weld on the pin and was never bead welded all the way around the pin as they had been done previously and since this model run. Arctic Cat denies any obligation to recall this known issue and someone is going to get killed over it. Please refer to the following thread. http://www.arcticchat.com/forum/pinned-topics/249118-arctic-cat-front-differentials-locking-up.html Arctic Cat is now wanting over $3000 to fix this problem on my quad.

The product, in the report: 2011 arctic cat xc450i black And orange Four-Wheeler ATV
I was riding down a trail at about 25 mph when I hit a bump my tie rod bent and caused me to hit a tree throwing me off and injuring my right shoulder which I had surgery on in August 2011. Once I received the recall notice I took my atv to arctic cat and had it fixed. Before that the wreck caused my frame to crack and bend and a lot of other damage it’s basically totaled I asked if they would pay for the damages and gave them invoices for all the work and they refused to pay for any of it and won’t even return phone calls.

No one hurt Made Dec 30, 2011, sent to the company Feb 1, 2012, published by CPSC Feb 15, 2012
The product, in the report: ATV-4 wheel
Consumer stated that while riding the ATV on a dirt road for approximately 1 hour at 25 mph, the unit stopped spontaneously on its own causing him to launch forward. He noticed that the front wheel was locked, the front deferential was cracked and there was fluid leaking everywhere. He was unable to ride the unit, it had to be towed.
Consumer has attempted to contact the manufacturer but was unable to reach anyone, he will try to do so again.
Consumer feels that this ATV is unsafe and could have caused serious injury had he been going at a faster speed.
