The product, in the report: Cabelas White River Lost Lake Float Tube. Dual Chamber, U-Shaped Float Fishing Tube UPC 7706000098
This product almost killed my daughter tonight. We bought this White River Lost Lake float tube for her for Christmas. Tonight was the first time she was able to take it out. We inflated it to the proper pressure and she set out. She made it approximately 60-70ft from shore and was just floating there when the entire inner seam holding the seat to the float tube ripped out. This left her with no support and caused her to fall into the water. She was able to hold onto the side of the tube. Luckily, my son was floating next to her in his kayak and he was able to help her hold on and towed her to shore. If she had fallen in fully, more than likely her waders would have filled with water which probably would have overwhelmed her life vest. There was no warning the seam was going to rip. It was a rapid failure.
The tube is rated to 220lbs and my daughter is maybe 130lbs. It was inflated to proper pressure. It was taken directly out of the packaging, was inflated and she set out.
I feel this product is unsafe and could result in tragedy.
