  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 4, 2026, sent to the company Apr 10, 2026, published by CPSC Apr 24, 2026

The product, in the report: Laycol baby swimming float with canopy. Bought from Amazon. Teal and green color. Actual Amazon description- Baby Pool Float No Flip Over, Inflatable Baby Float with Sun Protection Canopy, Baby Swimming Float, Baby Swim Float with Double Air Chambers, Add Tail for Age of 3-36 Months-

My one and a half year old son was splashing around and waving his hands in the water, kicking his feet when all of a sudden it flipped over with him inside and just his feet in the air with him under the water. Immediately threw it away. Luckily I was right there because I do not leave my children alone in the water because that is dangerous. He was coughing for awhile afterwards.

The product, in the report: LAYCOL Baby Detachable Awning Floaties

A floatation device for infants that is being sold on Amazon as a safe device almost drowned my child. The device send them face first into the water and holds them there. Even if you are holding on to the child the float pushes the child forward holding them in unsafe position in the water. Multiple products from Amazon that are being sold as baby safety floats are designed this way. I have been un able to source a safer option due to Amazon’s shopping algorithm making these devices the only available options and the flooding of the American market with these unsafe toys.

The product, in the report: laycol infant and baby spring water float

9mo baby was in the pool with his parents, mom was arm’s length away. He was strapped in the Laycol baby float, on his back. When he leaned forward, the entire float tipped forward with him and he went under water with his feet sticking up. He was under for about 10 seconds and mom was able to grab him and pull him out. He was then in respiratory distress and had to be observed in the pediatric intensive care unit for 24 hours.
