  1. Seen by a doctor or nurse

Made Jun 17, 2019, sent to the company Jul 16, 2019, published by CPSC Jul 30, 2019

The product, in the report: INTEX “Inflatabull” pool toy. The “Inflatabull” is a 7ft 10in by 6ft 5in by 2ft 8in (2.39m x 1.96m x 81cm) inflatable floatation toy that allows one to simulate “riding a bull.” The large product depiction on the box shows a teenage boy sitting upright while “riding the bull,” while a smaller product depiction shows a teenage girl also sitting upright on the bull, with one hand on the built-in handhold and her other hand up in the air, with three other teenagers surrounding the device with their hands placed on the circular tube.

My wife, son, & I were visiting brother-in-law’s home. He has a very nice in-ground pool in his backyard. My wife had just purchased an INTEX “Inflatabull” pool toy from TJMaxx for $39.99, so that brother-in-law’s son, and our son (they are ages 11 & 12), could use it for additional pool fun. Brother-in-law was with the kids as they were attempting to get onto the toy. However, they could not even mount it to simply sit on it, as it was very unstable. I come over to assist. We tried letting out some air, thinking that it may make it more stable. That didn’t seem to help. I decided to try it myself. We were in the shallow end of the pool, which turned out to be a really bad decision. I was sitting on the bull for maybe all of 30 seconds as brother-in-law was beginning to gently push the bull towards the deeper end, when I promptly tipped over. I hit my head on the pool steps, and began to bleed. Six sutures later, and less than 24-hours from the incident, I’m here on SaferProducts.gov to report my experience.

The product, in the report: My Baby Float Inflatable Tube For ages 1-2 years and up to 33 pounds

The consumer stated that her 2 year old granddaughter (weight: 22-28 lbs) was put into the tube and placed in a pool. The consumer’s granddaughter leaned forward and the tube flipped upside down. The consumer’s granddaughter was in the harness.

The consumer removed the tube with her granddaughter in it from the pool and took her out. She had a hard time getting her back straight up and out of pool safely.

The consumer took the tube back to the retailer and returned it.

The consumer plans to contact the manf and inform them about the incident.
