  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Apr 29, 2020, sent to the company May 7, 2020, published by CPSC May 21, 2020

The product, in the report: Life Jacket/Safety Floaties Amazon Summary: ‘Ehior Toddler Swim Vest Water Aid Floats with Shoulder Harness Kids Pool Swim Life Jacket for 25-55 lbs Boys and Girls (Lovely Clownfish Princess)’

    Hello,

My 2-year old daughter [REDACTED] almost drowned while swimming in the pool on Friday Apr 24th at 11:30 am, as her life jacket/floaties’ safety buckle strap simply tore in 2.

I could catch the incident on time and pulled her out of the water, she was terrified by the event of course as her little lungs were filled with some pool water. She needed 45 minutes to recover from this incident.

After contacting the reseller on Amazon, the gentleman admitted that the buckle strap of the jacket was made of soft fiber, which does wear off ratherquickly, as opposed to more weatherproof ‘cotton’ straps. He also informed me that the ‘newer’ version would be made of more weatherproof materials, which means thousands of these vests are on the market. I purchased the safety vest on August 30 2019, and my daughter has worn it less than 5 times!

I would highly recommend to investigate the quality of the many safety vests that were sold through ’[REDACTED]’ on Amazon website, as soon or later a deadly accident will happen and cause harm in multiple families.

I held on to the materials for further analysis for possible callback on the products.

    BR,

    [REDACTED]
