The product, in the report: Inflatable infant neck tube marketed in Europe. “Bimbo” brand written on the top, “Roxy Kids” written on the bottom. Also written on the bottom is the twitter handle: “#roxykids”. Clear tube with multicolored animals including a pig, whale, octopus, raccoon, and alligator decorate the top surface of the tube. Within the tube, there is a pink ball. The tube is open on one side and can be secured about the neck with a white Velcro strap and a white plastic buckle.
A 4 month old male infant was left unattended in a bath wearing an inflatable neck float. He was found unresponsive floating face down in a bathtub that contained approximately 8.0” of water. At the time of discovery, the neck float was no longer about the infant’s neck but was still secured in a closed position by both a Velcro strap and a buckle. It was noted by first responders/law enforcement that the neck float was partially deflated and appeared to be leaking from an unknown location.
