The product, in the report: TRX Suspension Trainer
Complaint Description: Anytime Fitness was directed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to replace defective TRX systems with safer TRX systems. They just changed the identification logo and said they havent had any complaints with this one and sent it to me with the same safety concerns unrepaired. The safety concerns are; 1. The recalled devices have hand grips with no end bumpers, which are black plastic caps covering the ends and preventing the plastic under the foam from being exposed. 2. They do not have an extra nylon loop, called a locking loop, attached at the point where the anchor strap and the “Y” straps are joined and designed to limit the slippage of the straps. Changing the logo badge to avoid the recall is absurd and is ignoring the safety of the people who have purchased it. It is impossible to safely complete all the exercises advertise with the TRX due to the hazards associated with safety recall item #2 above. There is a great deal of risk for head injuries by falling to the floor because there is still no Locking Loop on the one they sent me which is designed to limit the slippage of the straps. There is also the eventual failure of the strap due to the exposed plastic cutting into nylon strap by not having the End Bumpers installed as stated in safety concern #1. I can’t understand why they refuse to send me the safe version of the TRX that has these safety concerns fixed with the addition of End Bumpers and the Locking Loop?
Business: Fitness Anywhere LLC. [REDACTED] My case number with Fitness Anywhere LLC: [REDACTED] Customer Operations Lead: [REDACTED] Recall Link: http://www.trxtraining.com/Fitness_Anywhere_PR.pdf
Desired Resolution: I want the TRX System that is displayed in the recall message as the corrected and safe version on their web site that has the End Bumpers on the hand grips and the Locking Loop on the “Y” strap.
UPDATE: I will try to be more specific with both safety concerns below to be reviewed again for consideration. 1. Anytime Fitness failed to install End Bumpers per the CPSC previous directed recall: The TRX replacement does not have the End Bumpers installed on the hand grips. There is eventual failure of the TRX strap due to the exposed plastic cutting into nylon strap by not having the End Bumpers installed as reported in previous safety concerns. By not having the End Bumpers installed, the handles will cut into the nylon strap and sever the strap causing the user to fall to the floor expectantly. Likely injuries are to the head, neck and shoulders upon impact. Severe injury to the head is very likely. 2. Anytime Fitness failed to install Locking Loop per the CPSC previous directed recall: The TRX replacement does not have the extra nylon loop, called a Locking Loop, attached at the point where the anchor strap and the “Y” straps are joined and designed to limit the slippage of the straps as reported in previous safety concerns causing the user to fall to the floor expectantly. Without the Locking Loop installed, there is a severe risk for head, neck and shoulder injuries as well as hip, leg and arm injuries is very likely.
