  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jul 11, 2025, sent to the company Jul 16, 2025, published by CPSC Jul 30, 2025

The product, in the report: Product Name: Trideer Extra Thick Yoga Ball Exercise Ball, 5 Sizes Gym Ball, Heavy Duty Ball Chair for Balance, Stability, Pregnancy, Quick Pump Included Color: White Size: L(23-26ines/58-65cm) Material: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Purchased From: Amazon.com Seller/Brand Name (if known): Trideer Approximate Dimensions: 65 cm diameter when fully inflated Intended Use: To be “used as a pregnancy ball to ease maternity pains, it can also work on core muscles and balance; replace traditional office chairs to adjust sitting posture and relieve back pains.” This product is marketed as a safe, supportive tool for pregnant individuals to sit, stretch, and relieve pelvic discomfort. It was advertised as anti-burst and safe for pregnancy, which is why I selected it. I followed all inflation instructions and used the ball indoors, seated gently without excessive movement. The product failed suddenly during normal use.

I am reporting a serious safety incident involving a pregnancy exercise ball I purchased from Amazon. I am currently in my third trimester and was using the ball for pelvic relief, a common recommendation for pregnant individuals to alleviate discomfort.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, while seated on the ball in a calm, upright position (not bouncing or moving abruptly), the ball suddenly burst beneath me. The material ripped open along the side, causing me to fall backwards without any time to catch myself.

As I fell, I hit the back of my neck/head against the edge of my bed and landed hard on the floor, directly on my lower back and tailbone. I experienced immediate pain and distress, both physically and emotionally, given that I am pregnant and deeply concerned about the safety of my unborn child and myself.

The product was being used properly, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It was not overinflated, not punctured, and had only been used a few times before this incident. The failure occurred under normal, non-strenuous use.

The person using the product was me, a pregnant adult, and I was alone at the time. This type of product is specifically marketed toward prenatal users, yet it failed catastrophically during basic seated use, resulting in a fall that could have caused far worse injuries.

As of now, I am experiencing neck and back pain (on top of the pre-existing back and tailbone pain from pregnancy) and am seeking medical evaluation. I have saved the damaged product and have taken photographs of both the product and the injuries sustained.

I believe this product is unsafe and should be investigated immediately, especially due to the risk it poses to pregnant users.
