No one hurt Made Jan 17, 2024, sent to the company Feb 7, 2024, published by CPSC Feb 22, 2024
The product, in the report: Total Gym XL7. From the product listing on Sam’s Club Website = “Get a full-body workout at home with the Total Gym XL7 home gym. The versatile design and included accessories support over 60 different exercises using your own body weight for resistance. Ideal for staying fit on a busy schedule, this home gym lets you work out your whole body in under 20 minutes. This Total Gym home gym arrives fully assembled and ready to get to work. The folding design takes up little space and makes storage easier, perfect for use in space-constrained homes. Attach and easily swap out the included accessories to perform a variety of exercises and follow the convenient exercise flip chart to optimize your form.”
I was using the Total Gym XL7 in my living room. Upon standing up after using the product, I stepped onto a self-taping Philips head screw. There are many products in the room and at first, I was unsure of which item it came off of. Several days later, I was working out on the Total Gym XL7 and put the machine away after my work out. A short period of time later, my one-year-old was playing the floor and picked up an item which he attempted to put in his mouth, it was an identical screw to the last one that I found. I then removed the total gym from its storage location and found that both screws had fallen out of the plastic protection guard on the machine. Additionally, there was a third screw missed and I was unable to locate it. The screws are not able to be threaded back into the machine. Creating both a liability in their own right but also a lability that the protective guard might come off.

First aid Made Oct 17, 2018, sent to the company Oct 25, 2018, published by CPSC Nov 8, 2018
The product, in the report: Total gym pro fitness machine
Product is a fitness machine which uses the users weight for resistance. I was using product to perform chest exercises and the wheels broke causing the platform to come off track. The wheels use a raised edge like a railroad car to keep the platform rolling on square tubing. When the side of the wheel broke, the platform which I was on jerked causing pain to my shoulder. I contacted the product manufacturer who told me it was no longer under warranty. Total gym still sells the same product at retail stores under the name of total gym 1200, 1500 etc but is the same design as my total gym pro.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jun 29, 2012, sent to the company Jul 10, 2012, published by CPSC Jul 31, 2012
The product, in the report: Total Gym Exercise System-XLS Model
Approximately 5 weeks ago purchased a Total Gym XLS from an individual. This equipment is like new condition and had very little use. I am 70 years old and developed a strict fitness program which I have stuck to for approximately 15 years. I bought a Total Gym to add to my program. Because of my dedication to fitness, I was able to perform various exercises at a level 5 on the Total Gym XLS. Today 6/28/12 when I was performing the oblique twister, the cable snapped in the center where it attaches to a hook under the glide board. To my opinion, this design allows for too much stress and friction on the cable in a small area -thus causing the cable to snap thrusting my body to the floor. I received injury to lower section of my back. This poor design in the hook set should result in a recall of this product. The hook attachment should be designed as wide flat curve surface attachment such as the glide board on the [REDACTED].
