Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Sep 19, 2021, sent to the company Sep 21, 2021, published by CPSC Oct 13, 2021
The product, in the report: Tonal home exercise AI machine
While using the Tonal, doing an exercise it gave me to do with the weight it chose for me. I had difficulty turning off the weight at the end of the move, like you’re meant to do. As I struggled, the small handle began to slip from my hand and took my finger with it. Complex fracture in my right finger, from 78 lbs of tension. I had surgery a week later.
Upon researching to see if this had happened before, I quickly found it had happens at least 2 other times since May. Same exercise move, same breaks in fingers. Tonal was made aware, but no changes were made to make it safer.
