Emergency room Made Jul 14, 2026, sent to the company Jul 17, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 31, 2026
The product, in the report: For “describe the product,” write something like this: Product Description: Portable doorway pull-up bar. A steel bar with foam grips, designed to mount in a residential doorway for pull-ups, chin-ups, and hanging exercises. The unit is held in place solely by the user’s body weight pressing the bar outward against the door frame. It has no locking mechanism, no bolts, no secondary retention, and no failsafe. Class H, Standard EN ISO 20957-1:2013, manufactured in China for Stamina Products, Inc.
On March 8, 2026, I was using a Stamina doorway pull-up bar (Model WMAW-050262-RA, Serial 25MAR062367) mounted in a doorway in my home. I had owned and used this model for years across multiple residences without incident. On my fourth repetition, while performing a hanging crunch, the bar released from the door frame without warning. I fell approximately four feet and landed on my back on a marble floor. The impact was loud enough that two other people in the residence heard it from separate rooms and came to check on me. I was unable to stand and crawled a short distance to my bed. The bar was not worn, damaged, or loose prior to the incident, and remains in good condition. It did not break. It released from the door frame during ordinary use. This product is retained in the doorway solely by the user’s body weight pressing outward against the frame. It has no locking mechanism, no secondary retention feature, and no failsafe. Movements that alter the load vector including hanging crunches, leg raises, and knee raises, all standard and widely promoted pull-up bar exercises can cause the bar to release. Stamina’s own Owner’s Manual for this model contains safety instructions limited to inspecting for wear and tightening loose components. It does not warn that the bar is retained only by user body weight, nor that compound movements can cause it to release. As a result of this fall I sustained a burst fracture at L3 with 40 percent central compression, plus compression fractures at T12 and L1, confirmed by MRI on April 3, 2026. I required six emergency room visits before receiving adequate diagnosis and treatment. I have been unable to work since the date of the injury and remain under medical care, with a spine surgeon consultation scheduled for August 20, 2026. I still have the product in my possession. It has not been discarded, altered, or repaired.

The product, in the report: Stamina 1399 ATS Air Rower Rowing Machine
The rowing machine cable pulls out and does not go back in and broke while rowing. The flywheel spring that keeps rewinds the cable breaks fairly often after regular use.

The product, in the report: StaminaX magnetic rower
We assembled this rower and the instructions completely failed to mention when and how to attach the piece that stops the seat before it reaches the end of the track. We understood this would not be safe and figured out how to attach the included piece, but the equipment would be unsafe to use if assembled as directed.

No one hurt Made Aug 8, 2012, sent to the company Aug 17, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 31, 2012
The product, in the report: magnetic recumbent exercise bike
I received a Stamina model 4825 recumbent exercise bike for Christmas last year. I was well satisfied with it until recently, when the seat broke off as I was using it.. Upon examining it, I found that two metal bars attached to the bottom of the seat which appear to have been welded to the bike’s frame had broken off on both sides at the welds. I am not a heavy person, and I although I was not injured, I think this is obviously a dangerous defect, and warrants a recall. It appears to me that this is yet another example of shoddy Chinese products being dumped on the American market.
