The product, in the report: REEBOK 65 CM WEIGHTED STABILITY BALL RED #1765216
REEBOK 65 CM WEIGHTED STABILITY BALL (sand-filled for added resistance during moves and weighted base) was mere months old when it exploded and sent me down to the floor faster than the KABOOM in the room. The sand was like a powder bomb and left me in the midst of a cloud on the floor. I live alone and am the sole user of this product since buying it. My lower back is already severely deteriorated, with virtually no disc between two vertebrae, so I’ve been using the “physio” ball to strengthen my core, develop better balance, and gain flexibility through stretching. My body was sitting on top of the ball at the time of this incident, with my feet on the floor and back slightly reclined (thankfully!). Had my back been postured at a 90 degree, I would be paralyzed from the waist down. Because of the reclined altered my center of gravity, the landing was as much sideways and reduced the higher impact of a direct hit on the tailbone. That said, my hip feels severely bruised and the extent of injury is yet TBD. My concern beyond my own health is the welfare of the general public who seeks to improve their overall health and fitness only to be betrayed by the equipment trusted as the training companion. Beyond that, I’ve enjoyed and benefited from these products for over a dozen years and now my fear of a repeat will prevent me from replacing this item. To be sure, there were NO sharp objects or anything which “poked” the product to make it pop. The ball has about a dozen “rings” around it at various elevations; the ball exploded around the center ring, or the equator.
