Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

Made Jan 28, 2013, sent to the company Feb 6, 2013, published by CPSC Feb 28, 2013

The product, in the report: Exercise device for mounting in a doorway frame for pull ups.

On 1/27/13, when doing pullups on the Perfect Pullup product, both handles broke at the same time. I was on only slightly hurt (handle cut my head slightly). I searched online for anything on this since this product was sold rated to handle 300# per handle and I discovered the recall for exactly this issue on your site. I contacted the manufacturer for the newly designed replacement handles, but they indicated they were no longer taking responsibility for this remedy “since aquiring the previous company who made this product”.

  4. First aid

Made Aug 16, 2012, sent to the company Aug 30, 2012, published by CPSC Sep 14, 2012

The product, in the report: Perfect Pullup unit is designed to be mounted in a doorway, enabling pullups to be performed.

I was using the Perfect Pullup unit yesterday that I have had for some time now, and in the middle of a pullup both sides snapped, causing me to crash to the floor. While catching myself with my right foot enabled me to avoid serious injury, it still caused swelling, pain and general discomfort for the remainder of the day, and lingers into today. Upon searching for the company website/e-mail online, so as to inform the company of this incident, I came across the recall of this product where it appears I am not the only one this has happened to.. I did contact the company, and they have instructed me to e-mail a picture of the damaged grips for replacement.

The product, in the report: Pullup bar that attaches in between a door frame with two handles with hooks that attach to the pullup bar itself.

Hello, My name is [REDACTED] and I purchased The Perfect Pullup about 4 months ago and installed it professionally myself. Recently this past week I was doing my regular workout routine when I went to do my set of pullups and right into my 3rd pullup the handle broke and I basically punched myself in the eye giving myself and nice size bruise along the right side of my face/eye. It was all 190lb of my weight coming straight down to my face where I then fell to the ground. I took pictures of the handle and my face so I could report it.
