The product, in the report: Peloton original bike

While riding my Peloton original bike, the right pedal sheered off. Two years ago the left pedal also sheered off while I was riding my bike and had the right pedal replaced at that time as well. This seems to be a pervasive issue with Peloton bikes and can lead to serious injury to riders.

The product, in the report: Product Details: Manufacturer/Brand: Peloton Interactive, Inc. Product Model: Peloton Tread (Model TR02) Serial Number: RAIDPS2110060344 Date of Purchase: 2021

I am writing to formally report an inherent product defect and active safety hazard regarding my 2021 Peloton Tread (Model TR02, SN: RAIDPS2110060344). The external rubber surface of the treadmill deck has experienced a severe, structural material failure.Following a lengthy delay by the manufacturer, a certified Peloton service technician inspected the machine at my home in July 2026. While I was not provided a physical copy of the report, the technician documented video evidence and comprehensive log entries directly into Peloton’s internal service notes. The technician explicitly confirmed that: 1- The external rubber surface has suffered an inherent material failure. This failure is entirely independent of consumer use, noting it is not due to excessive wear or consumer abuse. 2- The machine has documented very low overall usage. Actual Incident and Slipping Hazard: This inherent defect has already resulted in an active safety incident. In May 2026, my daughter experienced a sudden slip while operating the treadmill due to the degraded rubber surface. Fortunately, she caught herself and avoided physical injury, immediately alerting us that the machine’s running surface was compromised. For context, both of my daughters own and regularly operate Peloton treadmills, making our family highly familiar with the equipment’s standard behavior. This incident was directly caused by the mechanical breakdown of the factory material, not user error or unfamiliarity.

The product, in the report: The product is an original-model Peloton Tread+ premium motorized treadmill, delivered new in March 2021. Unlike standard residential treadmills that use a continuous thin rubber belt over a solid deck, this specific model utilizes a heavy, industrialized “slat-belt” design composed of individual rubberized aluminum slats mounted on a motorized roller track system. It features a 32-inch high-definition touchscreen console integrated into the steel frame. This unit is part of the original manufacturing run of the Tread+ product line, which was previously subject to a major voluntary safety recall by Peloton and the CPSC due to mechanical hazards.

The product, a premium motorized slat-belt treadmill (Peloton Tread+, original model delivered new in March 2021), was being used normally by an adult female for indoor running exercise at standard training speeds when it experienced a catastrophic, mid-run shutdown causing the belt to abruptly and violently stop. The machine instantly drops from running speeds to zero without warning, creating a severe deceleration hazard with an immediate risk of the runner being forcefully thrown off the treadmill. While no physical injuries occurred during this specific incident, a severe fall, concussion, or major orthopedic injury easily could have happened due to the violent and sudden nature of the high-speed belt stoppage. Peloton sent certified technicians to my home three separate times over a two-month period, but all three repair attempts failed. Peloton has formally admitted in writing that their technicians were unable to complete the repairs, that the attempts were unsuccessful, and that the issue persists. Despite acknowledging these repeated service failures, Peloton refuses to replace or remove this severe safety hazard without charging me out-of-pocket expenses for a full base swap.

The product, in the report: Peloton Tread treadmill

I was using a Peloton Tread at my home. I used the screen to pause the machine. The treadmill came to a complete stop. I then got off the treadmill and left the room. I returned to the room a minute or two later. When I stepped back onto the treadmill, I was thrown off the machine and suffered injuries - the treadmill had restarted on its own and was running.

The product, in the report: Original peloton bike

I had an injury on my Peloton bike (original model) this morning. My [REDACTED] water bottle (32 oz) fell out of the water bottle holder while I was on it and landed straight upright right under my right pedal. I wasn’t able to slow my pedal in time and so the pedal landed directly on top of the water bottle and forced the bike upright and over onto its left side. Because I was clipped in I couldn’t dismount the bike and landed on my side under the bike hitting my left knee, hip, elbow and wrist. No fractures were sustained, but immediate blue bruising occurred on my left elbow and knee.

Subject: Safety Complaint Risk of Electrocution from Improperly Installed Peloton Treadmill

Product: Peloton Tread (Purchased January 13, 2022 $3,290.60) Location: [REDACTED] Issue Date: First technician visit February 27, 2025 Escalation Date: Second technician visit September 2025 Description of Hazard: I am reporting a serious safety issue involving a Peloton treadmill that was improperly installed in my home, resulting in repeated electric shocks and a confirmed risk of electrocution.

The treadmill was purchased on January 13, 2022, and installed by Peloton. On February 27, 2025, I requested a service visit due to concerns about the equipment. The first technician found that several bolts were missing but did not complete the repair and failed to warn me to stop using the machine.

Months later, I began experiencing electric shocks while using the treadmill, especially around the handrail. A second technician visited in September 2025 and found: - Loose and missing bolts - Mispositioned internal wiring - Exposed handrail bolts with no protective covers - Improperly installed monitor cables

He immediately disconnected the machine and warned me that I was at risk of electrocution due to the amount of electricity the treadmill uses to operate. I have photographic evidence of the technicians findings.

Despite repeated communication with Peloton, they have refused to remove the treadmill or issue a refund. Their only offer has been a handrail replacement and a few months of free membership, which does not address the underlying safety hazard or the negligent installation. I also paid for extended warranty coverage, which they have failed to honor.

The treadmill remains in my home, non-functional and occupying space. I am extremely concerned about the safety risks this product posesnot only to me but to other consumers who may be exposed to similar dangers.

    Requested Action:

I respectfully request that the CPSC investigate this matter and take appropriate action to ensure consumer safety and accountability. I am available to provide documentation and photographic evidence upon request. Sincerely, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: peloton tread +

Title of Incident: Peloton Tread+ Replacement Unit Exhibits Same Loss-of-Control Defect as Original Refusal to Accept Return

    Product: Peloton Tread+ (2025 model)

    Manufacturer: Peloton Interactive, Inc.

Description of Incident: I purchased a Peloton Tread+ treadmill in February/March 2025. Within weeks, the unit began exhibiting a serious defect: the touchscreen would intermittently operate on its own opening and closing menus, stopping workout programs, and overriding my commands. This results in a complete loss of user control while the treadmill is in motion, creating a significant risk of falls and injury.

Peloton replaced my entire Tread+ unit approximately two months ago due to these issues. The replacement unit exhibits the exact same defect as the original. This recurrence after a full unit replacement demonstrates the problem is not resolved by standard repair or replacement and is likely systemic to the products design or manufacturing.

Peloton has acknowledged that an OEM replacement update to the touchscreen is planned for October 2025, suggesting the defect is known internally. Despite the ongoing hazard and the fact that my current unit is only two months old, Peloton has refused to accept a return.

Instead, they have offered to send another technician and provide partial compensation (membership credits, dehumidifier allowance). They have stated that accepting any remedy would close my complaint and eliminate my ability to return the product if it remains defective. This effectively forces me to keep unsafe equipment and undermines my consumer rights.

Given the companys prior recall history with the Tread+, I am concerned that defective or substandard components (specifically the touchscreen assembly) could lead to sudden loss of control and inability to safely stop the treadmill during operation.

Injury or Damage: No injury yet, but the defect presents a clear hazard. Loss of control while the belt is moving could cause sudden stops, loss of balance, or falls, potentially resulting in sprains, fractures, or more severe injuries.

    Date of Purchase: February/March 2025

Location of Purchase: Peloton online store (delivered to Oregon)

    Steps Already Taken:

Reported defect to Peloton immediately upon occurrence

Full unit replaced by Peloton ~2 months ago; same defect persists

Requested return and refund multiple times

Peloton refuses return unless I agree to further repairs that would waive return rights

Desired Resolution: Investigation into whether the Tread+ has a systemic defect that compromises user control and safety during operation, and whether Pelotons practice of conditioning returns on repair attempts violates consumer protection and product safety laws.

The product, in the report: I have a 2022 manufactured Peloton Tread. Model TR02 Manufactured in Taiwan. Designed in NYC. My serial number is RAIDPS2111251364

I purchased a Peloton Tread in 2022. I have 201 miles on the treadmill and it’s basically in brand new condition, however the treadmill is defective in which the belt within a year started to tear. What makes this dangerous is that Peloton has a defective tread belt because it tears. The tread belt is “self-lubricating” and because of the tears in the belt, the self lubricating fluid is leaking to the surface of the tread, causing it to be unusable and dangerously slippery. You will slip and fall and hurt yourself. I have been injured on this as I have slipped and fell and hurt myself on the tread. I researched online and found thousands of users who are having the same problem with the Peloton tread and a defective product. Peloton is not standing but their product and they are a horrible company to deal with when they have a defective product. I have filed multiple complaints with them as I want them to replace my defective treadmill or give me my money back, their tech no called and no showed to my house and I can’t even get them to come out and look at it.

The product, in the report: Peleton Tread + (Plus)

The Peloton treadmill has been modified by the manufacturer to include a safety guard, a heavy metal component that drops from the treadmill if anything is caught between the treadmill belt and the guard. This feature is intended to prevent a person from being pulled under the treadmill. However, this modification has introduced a new risk: even when the treadmill is turned off, the falling guard could pose a danger to a child if it were to drop onto them. Peletons advice is to keep children away from the device which is not always possible. We never have the treadmill on when our child is home, but this issue means the machine is potentially dangerous even when turned off.

The product, in the report: Peloton Treadmill with rear tread safety issue

Even thought Peloton has been fined for unsafe treadmills and has agreed to install rear safety guards on the hazardous treadmills they are acting in ways that show that they are not taking the safety concerns seriously. They contacted me to install the rear safety guard safety device and on three occasions have failed to show up to install the device. They never showed up for the first appointment (April 16), never called and never offered to reschedule. When I called their customer service number they said they had no control over their contractor doing the work and no insight on the contractors schedule or progress. With some insistence I was able to get them to reschedule the appointment only to have them (contractor??) text me to say they could not make the second schedule appointment (5/2)and that I would need to reschedule. I used their system to reschedule and once again (5/14) but once again no one showed up and no one called. When I contacted the contractor (ATI) that Peloton said was doing the work, ATI said they had no record of a scheduled appointment, even though I received a note from Peloton confirming my appointment. A call to Peloton customer service again said they had no information available to them about the scheduled appointments even though the number I called was the number given to me on the appointment confirmation notice as a number to call if I had an issue with the appointment. They offered to escalate the situation, but a day later and I have still not heard from the. It does not appear to me that Peloton is making a serious effort to resolve this safety situation, and their customer service personnel are not able to help leaving me with an unsafe treadmill and no where to turn for help.

The product, in the report: Peleton Treadmill, black and for running.

I was running on the Peleton treadmill at 12 mph when the treadmill abruptly shut off with an error message causing my legs to buckle and me to almost hit my head off the front screen. When I reported the error to Peleton they asked for a video of it happening, asking me to run at that speed again. Then they refused to fix the product because it didn’t meet the limited warranty terms without charging over $300 even though it is a Motor Control Board issue and not a consumer fault issue.

The product, in the report: Peloton Bike+

I am writing to report a significant safety concern regarding my Peloton Bike+. My primary concern is centered around the bike’s stability and its potential danger to young children.

My 10-month-old child has attempted to pull up on the Peloton Bike+. I observed that the bike exhibited a noticeable wobbling motion when subjected to such force. This instability has raised serious safety concerns, especially given that my young child occasionally accesses the area where the bike is placed.

Upon realizing the potential danger, I promptly contacted Peloton Customer Support for guidance and a resolution to this issue. The response I received from Peloton was disheartening and alarming. They suggested two courses of action:

    1. Relocating the Bike: Peloton’s initial suggestion was to move the bike to a location inaccessible to children. This implies that Peloton is aware of the instability issue and acknowledges its potential risks.

    2. Selling the Bike: Another recommendation was to sell the bike altogether. While this might solve the immediate problem for me, it does not address the broader safety concern or responsibility of Peloton as a manufacturer.

Furthermore, I have become aware of a disturbing news report involving a fatal incident in New York, where a Peloton Bike+ tipped over, resulting in the tragic death of a man. While I do not have all the details of that particular incident, it raises significant questions about the stability and safety of these bikes.

Mitigation Efforts: In an effort to mitigate the safety risk, I requested guidance from Peloton on how to stabilize the bike effectively. They provided instructions on how to make adjustments and stabilize the bike, which suggests that Peloton is fully aware of the hazards associated with the Bike+.

I am deeply concerned about the potential dangers posed by the instability of the Peloton Bike+ and believe that immediate action is necessary to address this issue comprehensively. It is my hope that Peloton takes this matter seriously and implements appropriate measures to ensure the safety of its customers, especially those with young children.

I kindly request the following actions be taken:

    1. An investigation into the stability issues of the Peloton Bike+, including a review of design flaws or manufacturing defects that may contribute to instability.

    2. Clear and comprehensive safety guidelines and recommendations for all Peloton Bike+ owners, including proactive measures to prevent tip-over incidents.

    3. A commitment to recall or replace Peloton Bike+ units that are deemed unstable or pose a safety risk, to ensure the well-being of customers.

I believe that addressing this safety concern promptly will not only protect existing Peloton customers but also maintain the integrity and reputation of Peloton as a responsible and customer-focused company. I am open to providing any additional information or assistance required to facilitate this investigation.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this critical safety concern.

The product, in the report: Peloton Bike+ (not original Bike)

Peloton Bike+ Post Seat Drops randomly, and Can slip a few levels to completely drops all the way down during a ride. Have had multiple support calls with Peloton regarding the matter over months, last email to support on 9/12/23, and last calls on 9/18/23. Over the last 6 or so months this problems has occurred numerous times. Peloton has replaced the seat post, post sleeve and turn knob multiple times but with same design and problem reoccurs every time.

More details The seat post level is the height of the bike seat for the rider. Values range from 0 (1 indicated and is lowest), to 42. I set my level to 22.5 typically. Randomly, during a ride, the seat post level can slip gradually from 22.5 to anywhere from 17-20, or completely drops. Slippage occurs pretty much every ride, Occasionally the seat post would rapidly fall completely or near completely down, but this appears to be happening more often now. During my ride on Sept 12, when I filed my last support ticket, the seat dropped quickly all the way down to 0 (below 1 indicated on post). Luckily all my weight was not on the seat and I was able to catch myself, otherwise I would have gotten injured. The same issue has occurred when my daughter was on the bike as well.

This issue can easily cause significant injury, especially to vertebrates in lower back when sitting on seat and it rapidly falls. Let alone potentially causing the person to fall off the bike.

Numerous complaints regarding this exact problem exist on various websites on the internet, and multiple sub-threads on each site including Peloton Forum, [REDACTED], and the [REDACTED] site to name a few. Below are only a few links of other uses reporting the same problem. One article indicating the Peloton admitting the problem exists on the original Bike (but not the Bike+). This is false the problem exists on the Bike+ as well, and numerous of the threads/discussions on the internet (some links included below) clearly state by the users they own the Bike+ (as I do) and experienced the exact issue.

Sample of various threads regarding issue:

[REDACTED] Multiple Complaints about Bike+ Seat Post

[REDACTED] This article discusses issue, but claims Peloton only indicates problem with Original Bike not Bike+ (not true)

[REDACTED] Thread Doesn’t specifically indicate Bike or Bike+ but the problem is the same.

Note, this appears to be a design flaw. The turn knob pushes against a piece of V shaped plastic in the post sleeve that pushes against the post and that is how it is supposed to hold the post in place. I ride multiple of types of spin bikes in the Gym ([REDACTED]), all use notches in the seat post to hold the post and seat in place.

On a side note, I’ve been on hold waiting for Peloton support while writing this, on hold, get connected, then disconnected multiple times. So far, been on phone for over 2 hrs. I can Provide before/after pictures as if required. I asked I could possibly set up a video to record the post during a ride.

(03/06/2023) The consumer has a safety concern about the treadmill because it was supposed to be improved. The treadmill is supposed to shut off after 15 seconds if there is no weight on the product.

The consumer was on the treadmill for about 25 minutes when she stepped off of it. When she got back on the treadmill a half hour late, it was still running but she did not know it. The consumer was immediately thrown off. She hit her knee on the platform and hit her head on the concrete floor. I never heard or saw the treadmill running before I stepped on it.

The consumer contacted the firm and sent a video to show how the treadmill continues to run. The firm sent a replacement. On 4/1, when the technician was working on the replacement, the consumer asked the technician to run a test. The same thing happened on the replacement. The product did not shut off.

The consumer required medical care. She was diagnosed with a concussion, a hematoma on her hip, a neck injury and a muscle tear in her shoulder, inj to right elbow, bruise to left knee.

On Wednesday, January 4th around 5:15 p.m., I was walking on the treadmill at 3.7 miles per mile at an incline of 3. At about 6.5 minutes into my walk, I tripped and lost my footing, falling off the back right side of the Peloton Tread+. I landed on the floor on my right hip. My leg (from the knee up) was pulled under the peloton tread while the belt was still rotating. The skin on my left thigh was being churned, and the muscles felt as though they were being crushed and ground. Somehow I managed to lift the machine off of me and screamed loud enough for my husband to come to my rescue. The skin on the heel of my left hand was ground down as I couldn’t fit both hands on the non-moving portion of the treadmill; my right hand was on the frame and was ached for a day or so. After a few minutes, I was able to stand, with help, and walk slowly. Once I could slide out from under the machine, I felt like my muscles had been pulverized on my right side. The pain was mostly topical but when I walked I had the feeling of my muscles having been ground down to nothing. I suffered a painful road rash on my left thigh and hand, bruises and a few other abrasions on my left leg, a sprained left ankle as well as a mildly sore right hip.

As a result of the Peloton Tread+ recall, Peloton offered consumers who had purchased the Tread+ treadmill the option to relocate the treadmill to a safer space within their house. The details of the recall can be found here: https://www.onepeloton.com/press/articles/treadplus-faqs. We had decided to keep our Tread+ but relocate it to our garage, outside of our main house and away from our dog and our 12 year old son. We contacted Peloton’s customer service to schedule the move on October 29th. My husband, [REDACTED], subsequently received a notification from their 3rd party moving company, RXO, confirming the scheduled move. When the movers showed up, they only had two individuals who were unable to move the Tread because it was too heavy for just two people to move it. They left and we had to call Peloton to reschedule the move. The second time we scheduled the move with Peloton, they said they would note that the move was for a Tread+ and would require 3-4 individuals to be provided to move the equipment. The move was then rescheduled a second time. The second time, only one person showed up from RXO to dismantle the Tread+ - which we had already done, but they also were unable to move it. We called Peloton again and scheduled a third move. The third time, RXO claimed they were unaware that they were moving a Tread+ so only had 2 people so were unable to move it. We rescheduled a 4th time and the same thing occurred. Now the 5th time, RXO cancelled our scheduled move without even showing up. We now have a dismantled Tread+ in the middle of our living room and are unable to use the product, are still paying for our subscription and Peloton has repeatedly failed to make good on their promise to move our Tread+ to a safer location as outlined in the terms of the class action/ recall notification. They are failing to come through on their end to provide a service that was promised and in the process, their product in now unusable and a danger in our home space.

The product, in the report: Peloton Bike Plus

A peloton bike plus model was delivered to my home on March 24 and less than five minutes into my first ride on the morning of March 25, 2022, the right pedal suddenly came off the arm causing me to fall off the bike and hit my knee. I was able to catch myself midfall, but I could have easily hit my head or suffered a more serious injury. The pedal was still attached to my shoe and there were small metal shards on the ground from where the metal screw that is supposed to attach the pedal to the arm stripped. After recovering from the shock of the fall, I attempted to screw the pedal back onto the arm, but the metal was stripped. The left pedal was still attached to the arm, but barely screwed in and when I attempted to tighten it, it would not screw in. I am not an expert, but it seemed as if the wrong pedal or hardware was used. I was shocked that Peloton conducted no inspection or quality control review of its product before delivery. I am thankful that I did not suffer a more serious injury. To have a pedal come off a brand-new bike when going at a fast pace is extremely dangerous and I hope this does not happen to anyone else. I called Peloton immediately after my injury on the bike on March 25. I spoke to [REDACTED] and was shocked that he brushed off my injury and my request to report the product defect. I requested to speak with someone regarding my safety concern with the product and he said there was no one else I could speak to. He said a new pedal and arm would be shipped to my home and then I would be contacted to set up a service appointment. I followed up with written communications to Peloton on May 3, 2022, and May 10, 2022 and specifically requested information on their quality control/inspection measures that they have in place before delivering a bike. On May 16, 2022, [REDACTED] responded and told me “at this time, I am unable to share what Peloton measures or quality control standards are taken.” Which I find to be very concerning.

When the Peloton Tread+ product was recalled in May 2021, I immediately registered to return the product, because I had fallen on the product before and injured myself (minor bruising) but also, because I was very nervous about using the treadmill with my dogs in my home (I live in a studio, so I cannot really keep them away from me while working out). Peloton scheduled my Tread+ pickup for June 19, 2021. They failed to confirm my pickup window and they failed to pick up the product. I was assigned a customer service person to help me reschedule the pickup, which was scheduled for today, June 29th. I took off from work to ensure that I would be available for the pickup to happen. Peloton confirmed the pickup window from noon-3pm today. For no reason specified, the pickup order was canceled today.

Now, I am beginning to believe that Peloton is purposely canceling the pickup so they do not have to refund the amount paid for the product. I have also reported this to the S.E.C., because the company could be trying to inflate their earnings by doing so, or they could be trying to minimize their losses in their public reporting. Either way, the behavior of this company is egregious. I think that it is worthwhile investigating how many treadmill pickup appointments have been canceled thus far.

Even instructors say to just keep children and pets away... they make not mention to injuries to adult users. I was using the treadmill and had my safety key attached to my shorts, and at the end of my class, lost my footing and fell, at which time I was immediately dragged under and trapped under the treadmill, by my right arm. The safety key did not stop the belt and the belt kept going, slicing into my arms, legs and abdomen. My family heard my screams and disconnected the treadmill, at which time I was finally able to get free. I contacted Peloton to let them know about the issues with my tread and they told me they were not responsible and i would have to pay to repair the malfunctioning tread. I have all the conversations with them in my emails.

I am a currently owner of the Tread+. My Tread sheds rubber from the machine. I am wondering if there has been any inquiry into this issue in terms of health issues due to this rubber or the fumes that are released. I have suffered with dizziness off and on and puffiness to my eyes since 2019. I have been to multiple doctors and there is no explanation for my symptoms. This is the only other thing that I consistently use. I am not by any means saying that my symptoms were caused by the Tread. I am suggesting that the commission looks into this matter as it may have an impact consumer safety. It will also give Peloton an opportunity to incorporate changes before they release a new model. This is also one of the reasons why I am returning my treadmill. I love the class contents, but would want reassurance that these fumes are not harmful with long term inhalation.

On April 27 a new xpo team deliver a new base Stated the bolts were all in the wrong places on the tread. The bolts for the screen were in the base and the bolts for the base were in the screen

Thankfully no injuries occurred but I didn’t not use the tread much because i did not feel same on it

In light of the recent events and recall. I think it is important to note that peloton may not have proper installation teams the people installing their products are not properly trained and this is highly concerning to me.

A tennis ball was thrown and bounced into the workout room and rolled under the Tread. The Tread pulled the ball underneath it and destroyed the ball and left a green streak on the Tread. At the time, we thought that was odd and seemed unsafe that the Tread is wide open with the moving parts. Now, we have heard many stories of this happening and to the extent it has. Peloton has no plan to remedy this unsafe product and it is very worrisome to my wife and I.

    Hello,

I am writing to inform you that this year my 5 year old child was also in a Peleton accident involving the Treadmilll+. I hadn’t reached out before as this was not my equipment rather a friend’s. I was not aware I’d safety features as it did not belong to us. I had posted about it on my social media in hopes to prevent this from happening to others.

It reads “We were at a friend’s house last night and [REDACTED] was got sucked under their treadmill. We heard him screaming like I’d never heard him before. When we got to him he was under their treadmill while it was still running. Our friend lifted the treadmill off of him and we were able to pull him out. The belt had pulled his pants off of him and crated burns on him. His clothes bought him time from being so much worse. He told me didn’t want to die, he was so scared. Kids have died and suffered severe burns to their body and hands. Please make sure you keep the safety mechanisms in place even if you only have children visiting your homes. It can happen. So quickly. I still can’t even wrap my mind around what happened.”

There was the odd red ring around his neck which I later figured out was from his shirt bring pulled down. His head, neck, top of his shoulders were the only thing sticking out while the belt ran on him. It is clear he was sucked under. He still talks about this day, I have this odd fear when I run on a treadmill at the gym now. My friends kids point to that area and say that’s where [REDACTED] almost died.

I was trapped and the tread did not slow down. I finally was able to push against the tread so hard that it shut off, then came back on, then shut off. My legs, neck, and stomach had burns all over them. The tread really wasn’t going very fast when this occurred, thankfully. I still have a knot just under my knee where I was injured. I did not have the safety strap on as I was only walking on the tread and didn’t think it was unsafe, but it was. I really thought I might die.

The product, in the report: Peloton Treadmill The product is the Peloton Tread+ which I purchased in January of 2020. Model Peloton Tread+

I was running on my Peloton Tread+ on 10/10/20 and the treadmill sucked up a large foam roller that was in the same room, but a reasonable distance away (approximately 6 ft away) The foam roller become lodged under the treadmill causing the treadmill to lift up. I stumbled and fell as this happened while I was running. The scariest part is that my 5 year old daughter was also in the room, standing next to the foam roller at the time and could have easily been sucked into the treadmill and injured. I’ve been a runner for 30 years and used countless treadmills and never saw anything like this happen. I followed the directions that Peloton included with the tread in terms of safety and we narrowly missed a catastrophic incident. I have pictures of the outcome of this incident if helpful. Since this incident I am terrified for my daughter or dog to be in the same room as the treadmill and I am scared of this happening again and hurting someone.

(11/12/2020) The consumer stated that his wife was using the treadmill. She had told the children to stay out of the room. But his 2 1/2 year old son came in the room anyway. The child dropped a toy close to the treadmill. When he went to pick it up, his shirt got caught in the treadmill. The consumer had to pull the cord from the outlet to shut the unit off.

The child was pulled under the unit and was dragged to the front of the unit. The consumer stated that the child was stuck pretty good under the treadmill. A neighbor, who is a registered nurse, heard the commotion when the treadmill hit the window as the consumer was trying to pull his son out. She came in and helped to dislodge the child.
