The product, in the report: NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill NTL19125
On or around 4/14/2026, I was running on my NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill, model NTL19125 when the treadmill came to a sudden, hard stop without warning. The abrupt stop caused my left leg to twist forcefully, and I immediately felt a popping sensation in my left knee.
I stopped running and reduced my activity to a light walk because of the pain and discomfort. Over the following weeks, the pain became progressively worse and eventually became severe enough that I difficulty walking and functioning normally.
On May 11, 2026, the pain became so severe that I sought an urgent medical evaluation. I was given an order for an MRI that identified a meniscus tear. After discussing treatment options, I underwent knee surgery on June 17, 2026.
After recovering from surgery (longer issue) I resumed using the treadmill. Since the original incident, the treadmill has experienced the same type of abrupt hard-stop malfunction on four additional occasions. Because of these repeated sudden stops and my prior injury, I no longer feel safe running on the treadmill and have limited my use to walking.
I reported the malfunction and injury to NordicTrack and provided the requested medical documentation. I have not received a substantive response in follow up to my report.
I am reporting this incident because the treadmill has repeatedly stopped abruptly without warning during use, and one such incident was followed by a significant knee injury. I am concerned that the same malfunction could cause injury to other users.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack T Series 10 treadmill, black, full size residential treadmill with folding frame
On May 5, 2026, I was using a NordicTrack T Series 10 treadmill (model NTL15425, manufactured by iFIT) during normal residential use when the structural frame failed without warning while I was actively walking/running on it. The frame collapse caused me to fall off the machine and sustain an ankle injury. The failure was not due to misuse the machine was being operated normally at the time of the incident. Photos of the broken frame were taken immediately after the incident. I subsequently contacted the manufacturer (iFIT) to report the injury and structural failure, and have been engaged in an ongoing dispute regarding the mishandling of my injury/incident claim.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack treadmill model # NTL17915
I went to use my NordicTrack treadmill in my garage. When I placed the magnet, nothing happened. It was not plugged in so I took the magnet off. I turned off the power strip, plugged in the machine and turned the power strip on. The treadmill malfunctioned by starting at full speed without the magnet in place. It knocked my feet out from under me, throwing me forward, hitting my face on the console and then down to the belt. My nose was broken and my face torn up by the belt. I had a through and through crush injury to my upper lip, large bruise on my arm, broken nose and bloodied face.

Hurt, no treatment Made Apr 30, 2026, sent to the company May 5, 2026, published by CPSC May 19, 2026
The product, in the report: Nordictrack Elliptical, Black with gray, 350 weight limit.
While my wife using our Nordictrack elliptical NTEL71420.5 at home the right crank arm snapped, causing the pedal arm to drop immediately down on the rail. She slightly twisted right ankle by landing on the side of her foot to avoid falling fully. Ankle was aggravated for days but overall ok. Could have been worse. Upon checking noticed metal crank arm pole snapped in half at the weld on the pole where the pedal arm is guided onto. Upon follow up checked the left crank arm and notice a hole in the weld that will probably lead to a similar incident. Machine was regularly maintained, and primary user was approximately around 1/2 of the weight limit of 350lbs. Upon contacting manufacture, was informed that a report will be filled to leadership and I can place an order for replacement before it was fully reviewed. Later was informed it could have been wear an tear due to loose bolts, wobble causing strain, overall strain on the metal and lack of maintenance but not a defect despite routine maintenance performed, proper lubrication, and no loose bolts, and no wobble. Was advised to contact to order part replacement at my cost due to being wear and tear with no concerns of how it occurred or possibility of a future incident.

No incident, no one hurt Made Mar 10, 2026, sent to the company Mar 13, 2026, published by CPSC Mar 27, 2026
The product, in the report: Motorized home treadmill used for running and walking exercise. The product is a NordicTrack 2450 treadmill with a large touchscreen console and motorized incline. The treadmill was purchased new and installed in a residential home. The unit shows unstable belt movement, loud abnormal noise, startup hesitation, and electrical breaker trip during operation, creating potential fall and electrical hazards.
I purchased a NordicTrack 2450 treadmill manufactured by iFIT Health & Fitness. The unit was delivered on December 10, 2025.
From the first use, the treadmill showed serious mechanical and electrical problems. The running belt does not move smoothly and repeatedly stops and starts during the initial operation. The speed is inconsistent and the machine produces abnormal loud noise. The incline function also hesitates and intermittently stops.
In addition, the center portion of the running belt appears raised and uneven, which creates instability while walking or running.
The most serious concern is that during operation the treadmill has caused the household circuit breaker to trip and the unit suddenly loses power. This creates a risk of sudden stopping while a person is running on the treadmill, which could lead to a fall and injury. The electrical shutdown also raises concerns about potential electrical or motor failure.
A technician inspected the unit on February 20, 2026 and determined that the drive motor needed replacement. However, more than 20 days have passed since the inspection and the manufacturer has not provided any update about the replacement part or repair scheduling.
The treadmill appears to have been defective from the time of installation and presents a potential fall hazard due to unstable belt movement and a possible electrical hazard due to breaker trips and power shutdown during operation.
Photos and videos documenting the malfunction were taken immediately after delivery and can be provided.

No one hurt Made Oct 31, 2025, sent to the company Nov 10, 2025, published by CPSC Nov 26, 2025
The product, in the report: The product is a NordicTrack X22i (Elite) Commercial Treadmill, with Model/SKU: NT,ELITE TREADMILL(22-INCH) and Serial Number: RR71029200002. It is a high-end motorized incline trainer featuring a 22-inch touchscreen console. It was purchased from ShareTown on 02/25/2024.
The treadmill abruptly and randomly shuts down 100% while I am running, causing a severe fall hazard. The screen goes dark and the belt stops instantly. I must perform a manual reset to restart. I have nearly fallen multiple times. The manufacturer attempted a repair by sending a new Drive Motor (436774) and a new Controller (448931) free of charge. The issue stopped for one week after the repair but has now returned. The continued unexpected and dangerous stopping after major component replacement indicates an unresolvable defect that poses a substantial and ongoing risk of serious injury.

The product, in the report: The product is the NordicTrack X22i Treadmill with console running the iFIT application.
I have a Nordictrack X22i Treadmill that runs the iFIT application on a tablet screen. After iFITs most recent software update my treadmill belt would suddenly stop while running at 6-7 mph, causing me to run into the bar and support base. I reported the issue via the report issue link in the iFIT app. I have heard nothing back. This is a huge safety issue and could cause injury to other treadmill users.

The product, in the report: Nordictrack 1750 Commercial Treadmill Model #NTL14119.1
My safety key failed to stop my Nordictrack 1750 Commercial treadmill today. I was running and was trying to decrease my speed from 7.5 to cool down after finishing a work out. I wanted to cool down for about a mile to finish up my workout. For the entire workout until this point, the treadmill was working perfectly fine. When I tried to decrease the speed the treadmill started speeding up. It kept getting faster and faster and faster. I tried to slow it down and nothing happened. I pulled the safety key and NOTHING happened. I pressed STOP and NOTHING HAPPENED. I had to grab one of the sides and launch my body up in order to prevent falling and getting seriously injured. I have used the product for 4 years. My right leg and my arms are sore from the speed and the fact that I had to grab the side so forcefully to safety. I could have been SERIOUSLY INJURED

Emergency room Made Nov 7, 2023, sent to the company Dec 8, 2023, published by CPSC Dec 22, 2023
The product, in the report: Treadmill
3/22/2023: The consumer was on the treadmill for 15 minutes or less, when it unexpectedly and suddenly accelerated from 2.2 miles per hour to 11 miles per hour. The consumer fell flat on her face, directly on the treadmill.
The consumer was taken by ambulance to the local ER. A CT scan was administered, and the consumer sustained a fractured nose. She was released the same day. She had follow-up doctor visits to evaluate her injury and it was found that she was healing.
3/2023: The consumer contacted the manufacturer and reported the problem to them. However, the manufacturer would not send someone out to repair it, unless she signed a release agreement that includes a broad waiver of liability and an indemnity clause. The consumer revised the company’s draft agreement and sent it back to the company. The company then involved its in-house attorney in the communication/correspondence.
After several months of back and forth, including multiple drafts of the agreement, manufacturer offered to replace the machine, but only after the consumer informed them that she contacted the BBB, the company and the State Consumer Protection division of the state’s attorney general. The consumer also had to agree to sign a waiver to receive the new machine.
The company declined the replacement new machine, after considering the company’s insistence on broad wavers and indemnification, waivers and the manner in which the company handled this incident. Their waiver would have also required the consumer not to disclose details about this matter publicly.

The product, in the report: Nordic Track Commercial 2450 Treadmill, is an electric treadmill.
I Went to Dick’s Sporting Goods in Daly City, California, on January 16, 2021. to purchase a treadmill that did not emit any kind of chemical odors. The store manager recommended the Nordic Track 2450 Commercial Treadmill, and remarked that treadmill did not emit any chemical odors, but that the store did not have any ?oor models available for my inspection of chemical odor emissions. On January 29, 2021, Dick’s Sporting Goods Delivery service, delivered and installed the Nordic Track Commercial Treadmill into my rental apartment, while I read the entire instructional manual, and for which there was noting stated in writing warning that the Nordic Track Commercial Treadmill emitted off gassing of chemical odors, and the likely hood of potential harm from exposure of such chemical emissions. Proceeding the completion of the delivery and installation transaction, I turned on the treadmill, and started a brisk walk, and deep breathing exercise session, and within 15 minutes into the aerobic exercise session on the treadmill, a burst of hot, steaming, offensive, chemical odor immediately started to emit from the internal console of the Nordic Track Commercial 2450 Treadmill, and as a result, I inhaled all such chemical fumes, immediately causing me to experience shortness of breath, uncontrollable coughing, itching throat, dizziness, burning eyes, and burning nostrils, all from the exposure to the chemical emissions from the Nordic Track Commercial 2450 Treadmill. I immediately turned the treadmill off, however; within 30 minutes, my apartment was entirely smelled of an offensive, chemical odor, that continued to emit and linger from the Nordic Track Commercial 2450 Treadmill, up until the day I hired a moving company, paying a fee of $500.00, to return the treadmill back to Dick’s Sporting Goods, in Daly City, California. As a result exposure of such chemical emission emitting from the Nordic Track Commercial 2450 Treadmill, I have existing respiratory injuries to this present day.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack Commercial X32i Commercial Treadmill Model NTL39221.3 It is a black treadmill with a large built-in screen that is meant to support up to 300lb users (everyone in my family weighs far less)
I have had almost countless issues and safety concerns with my NordicTrack Commercial X32i treadmill over the 2+ years I’ve owned it. Not only has the machine broken and behaved unexpectedly, it has done so in a way that endangers any user of it. From the research I’ve gathered from other owners of this treadmill, their experiences are largely consistent with mine.
What happened that made you want to report? - Most recently the treadmill just stopped dead and caused me to hurt areas of my ankle, foot, and heel ( I have not seen a doctor yet but feels like a tendon). This was not a “safety stop” where the key was pulled - this was I am running at 8mph and the treadmill COMPLETELY shuts down. The safety key was still in, belt stops, screen is dead. This is not the first time this has happened. What type of product(s) were being used? - Treadmill (model in description above) Who was using the product(s)? - Me How were the product(s) being used? - According to guidelines for a healthy individual using a treadmill and in accordance with safety guidelines (e.g. safety key) Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product? - Yes How did any injuries occur? - Abrupt and unexpected stopping of treadmill with no alert or any indication whatsoever
In addition to this issue, I have recorded multiple incidents with the company where stoppages like this have occurred before, where the safety key is too thin/cheap and easily breaks and then does not clip to clothing effectively (which will then not disengage the belt if you were to trip and fall), software updates cause the treadmill not to work, belt elevation stuck at certain levels, belt does not start, broken platform (split) beneath belt

The product, in the report: NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill
I have a NordicTrack 1750 Treadmill. My family use it quite a bit for running and walking. For the second time in a year, the bolt holding the rear roller in place failed -- it literally snapped. This caused me to trip, and tripping on a treadmill can lead to serious injury. As this is the second time -- and we are not heavy people -- it indicates that the part is not up to the quality it needs to be.

The product, in the report: Nordictrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill by IFit Model/SKU NTL17221 Serial Number PP010C0003279
This brand new treadmill suddenly and randomly stops during a workout causing a very dangerous fall hazard. Nordictrack Commercial 2450 model NTL17221 Serial Number PP010C0003279. Purchased brand new on 05/12/22. Treadmill started malfunctioning almost immediately but it took weeks to finally register the product and make contact with Nordicktrack/IFit. I’ve spent countless hours working with Nordictrack/IFit since 07/06/22 trying to get it fixed or get a full refund. As of 12/28/22 IFit/Nordictrack is unable to repair it and refuses to provide a refund for this very dangerous treadmill.
IFit had sent a controller, upright wire, and lube in an effort to fix it. They also ran updates and checks on all the software. These parts and updates did not fix the issue. They are claiming that they will be sending a new console at some point but it appears they are unable to send one. I’ve tried using the treadmill after each of these “fixes” only for it to suddenly stop again. I refuse to use the treadmill at this point due to the danger it poses.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack Z 1300i treadmill
I have a NordickTrack Z 1300i treadmill, which I purchased in January 2019 and have used since then. In October 2021, while I was running, the retaining bolt that connects the left side of the belt roller to the frame sheared off, causing the belt to lose tension on one side and creating a very dangerous condition as the belt suddenly dropped and became slack on one side while running at high speed. I contacted NordicTrack and they sent a replacement for the bolt (actually, a bag of 10 bolts). A week ago, however, on November 12, the same bolt - the one I had replaced the prior year - sheared off again in the same way. I was running at 12 mph (5:00/mi pace) at the time. I managed to catch myself and was not injured, but again the condition was extremely dangerous.
The photos included show the treadmill, the product information sticker, the location of the bolt, and the sheared-off bolt after I removed it and replaced it.

The product, in the report: Tread mill.
Treadmill randomly stops, a hazard when running. I have replaced the motor at the company’s expense and replaced the controller at my expense. The control panel is over 1/2 of the price of the entire machine and I believe it to be the cause of the problem. The Nordictarck T6.5 S will randomly stop, some times it won’t stop for several days, then it will stop. Again it is at random. There was no injury but it is a dangerous treadmill, I can only use it to walk, no running.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack X32i
This is the second NordicTrack X32i I have owned in the past 1 1/2 years (a replacement unit for the first X32i unit whose metal base frame snapped in half; see Consumer Product Safety Commission Report [REDACTED]). This new replacement unit is only about seven months old, and in the last month experienced severe malfunctions before its base metal frame cracked in the same spots as well: prior to the frame cracking, the treadmill literally stopped while I was running, and the treadmill declined to its lowest possible state randomly without user input.
While those are clearly notable safety issues in themselves, a cracked metal base frame at the same exact locations constitutes a quality control or major design flaw. I am a fit, 210lbs. male who has worked out my whole adult life, so this is not a maximum capacity issue or user error.
This is a significant safety hazard, which would ultimately result in harm to me or my family members. A treadmill shouldn’t stop while the user is running or decline randomly to its lowest setting, let alone crack at the metal base frame on both sides. NordicTrack needs to address basic safety issues or provide quality control for its products, up to and including a recall, if needed. I don’t know when a product merits a recall but someone is going to get seriously hurt on this machine at some point, if they haven’t already.
I have already contacted NordicTrack to relay all of the issues with this product, asking for a full refund and removing the machine at NordicTrack’s cost. And I recommended that NordicTrack elevate this issue internally as soon as possible to rectify the product faults that will cause significant injury, if they haven’t done so already.

The product, in the report: It’s the Nordictrack Commercial x22i
I purchased a treadmill, more specifically the x22i, from Nordictrack. While running the treadmill suddenly stopped, went dead and threw me from it against the wall. I immediately called Nordictrack who also immediately knew what the issue was. I was informed it was the motor board. Through research it appears they knew this because this happened multiple times. There’s a board dedicated to these issues on [REDACTED] and a class action lawsuit being filed. Yesterday, Nordictrack sent me an email forcing me to sign a hold harmless/indemnification agreement or they would do nothing to repair the treadmill or provide a new one. I will most certainly not execute that hold harmless. It states I understand the product is dangerous and could have defects causing death or injury or Nordictrack, more specially their parent company IFIT, is to be held harmless from any damages and/or claims.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack Treadmill, model number NTL17219
Hi, we own a NordicTrack treadmill, SKU NTL17219. We purchased the treadmill directly from NordicTrack.com on July 27, 2019. Twice, the machine has stopped working while in mid-operation. My husband was running on the the treadmill both times when it stopped functioning, and the sudden stopping of the machine caused him to stumble and almost fall off the machine and hit his head. Luckily, he did not hurt himself but it was through sheer luck. NordicTrack sent a technician both times to look at the machine, and he told us it was due to a controller malfunction. We replaced the controller after the first incident (in May 2021) and then the controller AGAIN malfunctioned in February 2022. Once again, it happened mid-run, and my husband was lucky not to be seriously injured. The technician said it was another controller malfunction. We checked our home’s wiring, and it is done correctly, so this appears to be a problem with NordicTrack’s technology. Someone could be seriously injured due to this defect.

The product, in the report: Nordic Track Elite 700 treadmill
I purchased a Nordic Track Elite 700 Treadmill from Costco.com on March 8, 2020. After a few months of use, the console that provides control of the treadmill to the user failed. As a result, the Nordic Track customer service department was contacted. A replacement console was shipped to my home, and the Nordic Track customer service team, asked me to install the replacement console myself. When I questioned the safety of attempting to repair the treadmill myself, the Nordic Track customer service team informed me this was a do-it-yourself job under the warranty plan. The Nordic Track Elite 700 treadmill console failed again on March 24, 2022. I called the Nordic Track customer service department on March 25, 2022, to request assistance with the repair of the Nordic Track Elite 700 treadmill. I could not be connected to a representative from Nordic Track’s customer service department until March 29, 2022. [REDACTED], a technical customer service Nordic Track representative, informed me on March 29, 2022, that the consoles on the Nordic Track Elite 700 treadmill are known to fail. Additionally, [REDACTED] would need to reach out to his supervisor to request authorization to replace the console again on my Nordic Track Elite 700 treadmill. I have decided I cannot continue to use the Nordic Track Elite 700 treadmill. When the console failed on March 24, 2022, the band on the treadmill I was running on increased its speed, and there was a significant jerking motion that impacted the whole machine. However, I was able to grab the handrails and support my weight to exit the treadmill without injury. I might have rolled off the treadmill if I wasn’t strong enough to support my weight using only my arms entirely. The Costco.com organization scheduled an appointment for their logistics partner [REDACTED] to pick up the treadmill from my home today. Unfortunately, the appointment was canceled by Costco.com and [REDACTED] yesterday. I have reached out to the Nordic Track Elite 700 treadmill manufacturer using the email provided to me by the Costo.com team: [REDACTED]. Unfortunately, I have not received a response from the product manufacturer and the brand owner Nordic Track. My attempts to return the product to the vendor and offer my support to investigate the reported product safety issues are failing.

Purchased a NordicTrack commercial grade 1750 treadmill. Total price with tax and shipping was around $2100 if memory serves. The Model Number is NTL14129.10 and the Serial Number is NN131H1A00638. The treadmill was delivered on or about September 2020, just over one year ago (a year and a few weeks). The treadmill’s “stop” safety feature has quit working properly. Worse than that, pushing the stop button causes the belt to stop briefly and then suddenly lurch “on” again, creating obvious safety hazards. I contacted NordicTrack today by phone and they informed me that because the treadmill is just outside their one-year warranty period, they are not able to do anything about the safety hazard.

No one hurt Made Oct 24, 2021, sent to the company Nov 4, 2021, published by CPSC Nov 19, 2021
The product, in the report: Nordictrack X32i treadmill (purchased new at approx. $4,000 with threshold delivery at $200; delivered in December 2020).
I recently was running on the Nordictrack Commercial X32i treadmill (approximately 10 months after purchase) and noticed some wobbling on the front end and some loud squeaking noise. When I stopped the treadmill to inspect, I noticed that the metal base that is part of the running deck had split in half (literally split through the metal) and a spring and other minor equipment was scattered on the ground.
I called Nordictrack immediately and sent photos of the split metal frame and the treadmill, noting that this was a significant safety issue. They indicated that they would have to pick up the machine and send me a new one, but that a Return Specialist would call me within 30 days to do so.
After thinking about it over night, I called them back the next day to ask them to escalate this issue, since the metal frame of a running deck should not split in half after 10 months of use, and this represented a significant safety hazard. I also asked how they could investigate this issue thoroughly if it was not flagged and elevated to senior management that a $4,000 treadmill had essentially broken in half on one side. Where was their quality control and internal reporting process for these types of consumer safety issues? I did note that it was in their best interests to watch out for the safety of their own customers.
They only indicated that they could not escalate the significant safety issue to management and that a Return Specialist would contact me within 30 days. Again, what concerns me is that their response is not indicative of any urgency or the significance of the safety hazard at hand. The metal seems to be rusted throughout which, for a new machine, calls in to question their supplier and quality control, not to mention my discussions with them calls in to question their reporting process for significant defects or safety hazards. Thankfully, there were no injuries, but if they take this as lightly as a routine processing, what exactly will prevent someone from getting hurt in a similar situation? Again, I have photos of the split metal and treadmill.

My Nordic Track 1750 treadmill is continually tripping circuit breakers. This has occurred in two homes over the past 2.5 years. Nordic Track/Icon Fitness is unable or unwilling to repair. They have replaced the motor after two visits, then sent an arc filter. Still no change. Very concerned if this is a widespread issue and could result in fire in the electrical panel in consumers houses.
Icon is now blaming this on home wiring. No response to the point it is a new circuit, has occurred in two homes.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack
I have a Nordic track SE 7i model number NTEL99413.1 elliptical machine that the bar that supports the arm sheared off on the right side while exercising. When the arm sheared off it dropped to the floor. The arm supports the foot rest so you suddenly stop and your foot drops. I was not injured but could easily have been injured. I can provide photos if needed.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack elliptical Spacesaver SE9i Model NTEL09814.1
I’m contacting NordicTrack and you because of a safety and health risk associated with the Spacersaver SE9i elliptical. My first time using it was 12/31/16. During that time, my left foot was propelled forward in front of the footpad. The footpad caught the heel of my shoe forcing the toe of my shoe into the center arm post. The force and compression of my foot caused a grade 3 hyperextion between the distal and proximal phalanges of my left big toe. My prognosis is at least one month of rest with no physical activity.

The product, in the report: Nordic Track Elliptical Model NTEL71615
We received a Nordic Track Elliptical Model NTEL71615. In addition, we had delivery and set-up included. The machine was installed the first week of September, 2015. Due to business obligations that had us out of town for extended periods of time, we did not use the machine until November. On November 19th, 2015, I wrote to the consumer service department of Nordic Track, ICON Services, to let them know that my brand new $1500 machine had electrical currents running through the left handle and could be felt at the screw where you hold on to the bar. I mentioned that I had talked to an electrician and he felt it could be a bare wire in the machine. I got an ‘automated’ reply back stating a representative would contact me shortly. On December 4th, 2015 I wrote to them again. I explained to them that I had not heard from anyone and I did not want to use the machine due to the electrical current. Again, I got the ‘automated’ reply stating a representative would contact me shortly. Today is December 22nd and I have not heard from anyone. My concern at this point is it catching fire and damaging my home. I have unplugged the machine. No one can use it for fear of an electrical fire or personal injury. This machine does not have an on/off switch. The only way to use the machine is to manually plug it in to an outlet each time you want to use it, which in itself is not a safe practice.

The product, in the report: Elliptical exercise equipment
While I was using the elliptical the axle that holds the left handlebar broke and I fell. I was uninjured but someone experiencing the same failure could fall and be seriously injured. The handlebar and foot piece are attached so that in each cycle of the wheel, a person’s full weight is supported only by the axle that broke at some point during the cycle and a person’s full weight is supported at some other point by the axle holding the right handlebar. Other times during the cycle both the left and right axles support the user’s weight. The axle is hollow and not of sufficient strength. I weigh 190 pounds. I have had the elliptical about two years. I use it twice a week for 20 minutes each time.
I suspect this is an engineering problem in which a stronger axle should have been chosen, rather than a manufacturing defect in the specific axle. My best guess is that NordicTrack should be required to recall the elliptical to replace the axles with more substantial axles. In the meantime, I will have both axles replaced and will begin using the elliptical again.

Elliptical exercise machine was being used as directed on a semi-regular basis. The weld on the steel frame connecting the base to the moving handlebars broke/failed (a chunk of metal actually ripped off the frame at connection point) causing the handlebars to fall off the machine. This caused the user to fall off the elliptical machine while exercising. Luckily there were no serious injuries just bumps & bruises but this could potentially be a very dangerous situation for someone else. We contacted the company and they didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong that they needed to report.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack Revitalize Inversion System 2.0 Bought from Sear’s
I have NordicTrack Revitalize Inversion System 2.0 I bought new from Sears about 3 to 4 years ago. It has always been inside. On or about July 1 2014 I went to hang. I got it and locked my ankles in. And started over and when I went over the lock pin let go and I fell strait down on my head I was passed out or knocked out for awhile. When I came to I could not move my arms or hands for almost an hour. Since then I have had CAT scans and two MRI’s. I have two disks in my neck crushed and one in my back. The doctor has sent date for surgery on my neck and then he will do my back. It is all very painful. I have found the cause was of failure was the spring on the lock pin that holds your ankles locked in colasped and let the pin drop out of place let my ankles go. Bam!

Hurt, no treatment Made Jan 8, 2015, sent to the company Jan 20, 2015, published by CPSC Feb 3, 2015
The product, in the report: NordicTrack E9.0 Elliptical Exercise machine
My NordicTrack E9.0 Elliptical Trainer (manufactured by Icon) suffered two structural failures in the span of 4 months. The machine was purchased in Nov 2011 and the failures occurred in Sept 2014 and January 2015. In both cases the failure caused me to abruptly fall from the machine.
First incident in Sept 2014 the ramp (part #307098) and Aluminum Track (part #306606) suddenly buckled along a fold in the steel (estimated #14 gauge) causing the left pedal arm to “derail”. I lost my balance and fell off the machine. At the time the machine was still under warrantee so Nordic Track replaced the parts at no cost and I repaired the machine.
The second incident occurred on Jan 7, 2015. This time the Crank Arm (part #306600) on the left side failed. A roughly 1/2 steel shaft suddenly sheared causing the left roller arm to disconnect from the disc and fall to the ground. When that happened I was thrust forward slamming my chest into the left upper body arm. Again, I lost my balance and fell off the machine.
When I reported the failure to customer service they told me the machine was now out of warrantee and I would need to purchase the replacement part for $214.
I am a 220 pound male about 5’ 8” tall and use the machine in my home for about 45 minutes about 4 times per week. 2 other 125 pound females use the machine for about 30 minutes about 3 times per week. My point is the machine is not under any unusual stress.
I have photos of the parts that failed. The company is clearly using inferior materials for their structural parts. This presents a physical danger to users of the machine because these parts can fail suddenly during exercise causing the user to slam into the machine and fall from their momentum.

The product, in the report: NordicTrack Treadmill model C1550
I was working out on my approx 4 month old treadmill (NordicTrack model C1550) and had the track moving to an 8 incline at a 4.8 speed when the machine completely stalled. I had done a 3 min warm up at 4.8 speed/2 incline prior to increasing the incline to 8. Within 60 seconds of increasing the incline, the machine came to an abrupt halt. I jolted forward, with my upper torso falling into the control panel and my toe box on my right foot riding up slightly on the plastic piece covering the front of the track (which extends at least 3-4” farther than the control panel). Approximately 1-020 seconds after it abruptly stopped, the treadmill started up again at the 4.8 speed it was at prior to stalling and I fell to the track, literally coming within 2” of my face/front teeth going into the control panel. The track drug my feet back twisting my right ankle underneath my leg, with the top of my right foot sustaining an abrasion from the tread and my knee getting torn up and bruised prior to the machine emergency stopping when the red switch finally pulled out. My right knee and top of my right ankle were bleeding and my right ankle became very swollen. I also experienced significant bruising on my right knee, and whip-lash like symptoms with midback and neck pain.
My doctor diagnosed me with an ankle sprain, mid and upper back sprain and right knee abrasion and contusion.
As a side note, this treadmill is kept on a surge protector on it’s own circuit. I also came across 5+ recent online NordicTrack treadmill reviews where users had similar experiences to what happen to me on 8/4, where the treadmill had abruptly stopped without warning.

The product, in the report: Elliptical exercise machine, NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 Model: NTEL7906.0 Serial: V01C80796
I was about 15 minutes into a 30 minute program on my elliptical exercise machine when the bar for the right foot pedal slipped off the flywheel crank and threw me off the machine, with no warning.
My opinion is that this could have caused injury since the machine went from 65 revolutions per minute to zero almost instantly, with the right pedal falling away from the machine. I ended up completely clear of the machine and everything else in the room and no injury occurred. The bar that hit the floor was heavy and made a loud noise, but did not cause any damage to the carpeted floor.
The bar under the foot pedal is held in place during normal action by a c-shaped piece of metal on the end of the bar and a metal latch that keeps it from lifting off the shaft of the crank. It is also constrained laterally by a plastic sheath that covers the shaft, with a plastic flange on either side. In this case the plastic flange on the outboard side of the sheath sheared off completely from the sheath and the c-shaped bar and latch slid off the shaft to the outside.

A weld broke on a Nordic Trac Audio Strider eliptical machine, made by Icon Fitness. It broke while in use. The machine is 5 years old, but still in very good condition and has never seen any excessive use. The break caused a great risk of injury to the user. It is a type of weld that should never see that amount of stress. The company has been contacted with the concern, but shows little interest in correcting the potential hazzard.

This is quite dangerous and I have to stop the treadmill. It is happening repeatedly. I bought the treadmill through Sears in the last 5 years. I can’t find my receipt to verify the date. The back of the brochure lists ICON Health and Fitness as the warranty contact and says it is warranted for 1 year from defects. The drive motor and frame are warranted for life. I didn’t find a recall for this product on your website.
