I bought a Marrs Squat Bar at Home Gym Con in Frenchlick, Indiana on April 16, 2023 from the Vendor Solid Bar Fitness. [REDACTED], my boyfriend and I have used the Marrs squat bar about 10 times since the purchase. [REDACTED] was using this squat bar in our home gym on Wed, 6/21/2023 and noticed the pad, that surrounds the metal squat bar along the mid back and shoulders ripped. The metal marrs bar sits across the mid back to mimic a low bar squat and the metal bar sits and wraps over shoulder so the bar balances on the lifters back and shoulders. The bar is rated to hold 1200 lbs. [REDACTED] was squatting 515lbs when it tore. the pad protects the shoulder, neck, and collar bone to evenly distribute the load as well as provide cushion and support. the pad only tore half way through in which I advised him to immediately stop using the bar. If the pad were to tear all the way, it most certainly would cause severe harm to the spine, neck, and weight lifter. I immediately contacted Solid Bar fitness on social media, in which they informed me they are aware of the problem and working on a new pad to replace the current one that tears. They then informed me to use [REDACTED] to fix the pad. I absolutely did not use [REDACTED] to repair the broken pad. [REDACTED] has not been tested and validated to be a reliable fix for this type of material and to hold up to 1200 pounds on a squat bar. The company is still selling these bars with these malfunctioning pads and it is only a matter of time until someone gets hurt. Marrs bar even has a video on their [REDACTED] on how to use [REDACTED] or [REDACTED] to glue the pad back together because this is a KNOWN issue and yet they keep selling the unsafe bar. They would not refund me for the bar. And after doing some digging, saw on Solid bar fitness’s website that they offer a LIFETIME warranty against manufacturer defects, yet did not offer to replace mine or other people that contacted me that had the same issue. The next day the owner of Marrs Bar contacted me on social media with his personal contact information and stated solid bar fitness informed him of my disgust in such an unsafe practice. He told me he can send me a new bar but I do not want a bar that is a safety hazard until it is tear resistant.
