The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: LifeFitness C3 Upright Go Bike

Lifefitness C3 Upright Go Bike purchased in 2/26/2022 for $2487.13 from US Fitness. Tension in pedals began to slip while riding 6/12/2023. US Fitness replaced the brake assembly and belt which were under warranty. We paid $192.15 for labor. 10/14/2025 pedals began to slip again. Parts are no longer under warranty and we would be responsible for the repairs and labor. This bike was used 8-10 times a week and has been cared for. The part that is failing is dangerous for the rider because it could cause a fall off the bike. This should not be the 2nd brake assembly needed for a 4 year old bike.

The product, in the report: LifeFitness We purchased this as a new elliptical (though it appears it was manufactured about 2 years before we bought it). It has been used exclusively for home use, and sat idle for about 5 years before COVID. Over the past year, it has been used 3-4 times a week for an hour at a time until the aforementioned issue. Model X3

I returned from a week of vacation (the unit had been sitting idle for about 8 days), and decided to elliptical for a quick workout. I turned the unit on, and the welcome screen flashed on, and then flashed off. I hit the ‘resume’ button, hoping that it had just frozen out, and it flashed again, but quickly turned blank. At that point, I thought I smelled an electrical fire, and inspected the base of the unit, by the engine & power cord. I didn’t notice any issues, and then looked back to the top of the unit. At this point, visible smoke was coming out of the middle console of the unit (below the screen, in between the stationary handle bars). I quickly unplugged the unit, and the smoke persisted for about a minute. At this point, it still had not stopped, so I squirted some water into the holes where the smoke was emanating from. This caused the smoke to stop, and then I stayed with the unplugged unit for the next hour to ensure that it didn’t start smoking again.

The product, in the report: Body building - body toning equipment.

My husband and I are members of City Sports Club in Antioch. The gym has Life Fitness body building equipment. However, the gym does not have all the accessories that would allow members to use the equipments safely. The equipment requires straps during use. There are specific instructions and illustrations on how to safely use the machines with specific straps. I requested for a leg strap. I was told by several instructors to use the pull handles in lieu of leg straps. I complained to the manager but was told that leg strap is not an accessory they are allowed to order. This is a safety issue and members are being exposed to unnecessary injury for improperly using the fitness machines. Life Fitness should not sell machines without all the necessary accessory for safe use. They should not provide instructions and illustrations when they know that these cannot be accurately followed.

I tried suggested (alternative) straps and they have either snapped or hurt my ankle.
