No one hurt Made Sep 24, 2018, sent to the company Oct 2, 2018, published by CPSC Oct 17, 2018
The product, in the report: The brand name of the product is Gold’s Gym, and the model name is the Five in One Door Gym Trainer. It is a portable pull-up/chin-up bar.
On 9/8/2018, I was using my Gold’s Gym Five in One Door Gym Trainer, which is a portable pull-up bar. While I was doing about seven pull-ups, the product abruptly broke, fell off the door frame, and caused me to fall at least several feet onto the ground. My feet hit the floor first, and I lost balance and fell backwards, landing on my back on the concrete floor of the garage. Thankfully, with the exception of a slight headache, which resulted from the metal bar hitting my head as I fell, I was uninjured. I did not seek first-aid nor medical attention, and the pain went away after an hour. However, I easily could have suffered serious leg/knee, back and head injuries.
Upon examination of the broken product, I observed that both ends of the flat rectangular plastic “crossbar” that was placed on top of the door frame, in order to hold the entire pull-up bar in place, were broken. Each end was attached to the main bar’s steel frame with a screw. With the ends broken, the plastic portion completely separated from the main bar, and caused the whole product to lose its grip on the door frame and fall.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jul 27, 2017, sent to the company Aug 18, 2017, published by CPSC Sep 1, 2017
The product, in the report: Gold’s Gym Airstride Plus Cushions Trainer 460
I was walking on my Gold’s Gym Airstride Plus Cushions Trainer 480 on July 25, 2017 at 3.5 mph when it suddenly sped up to the maximum speed without warning. I pulled the emergency key but it did not stop, the treadmill continued to run at full speed. I was holding on to the bars at the time and managed to get off but not without injury. My right leg was scraped to the white meat and two days later is still raw looking and swollen. My left calf and buttocks were burned by the belt and scraped raw. My leg has scabbed over but my buttock is still raw. If I had not been holding on I fear I would have broken something. This is dangerous. The emergency key that was put there to stop the treadmill in the event of an emergency was useless. The key was down on the floor with me and the treadmill was still going at full speed. My daughter said she saw the lights flicker briefly right before the treadmill speeded up. I have no doubt whatever malfunction caused the treadmill to speed up was the cause of the lights in my house flickering. I unplugged it and took pictures of it. I will not be using it again. I am taking it apart to put in my garage in case I need it in the future if someone has to examine it but I am not using it or any other treadmill ever again.

First aid Made Feb 1, 2016, sent to the company Mar 9, 2016, published by CPSC Mar 23, 2016
The product, in the report: Inversion Table
This caller is reporting an Inversion Table purchased through retailer online January 2010.
There were no problems with the table until December 17th, 2015 when her husband was using it and the metal that holds it together to allow inversion or to right oneself back to standing position broke sending the caller’s husband to the floor.
He hit his head and shoulder but was saved from more serious injury due to the pillow used being higher and the table hitting the floor first.
She did contact the manufacturer around January 1st, 2016 and they responded with a resolution to provide the caller with money to purchase another inversion table.
The caller’s responded that they would accept that offer if there was a recall generated and the public be made aware of the safety hazard with this table.
The caller and his wife have treated his injuries themselves, not physician has been seen.
The submitter added the company did not respond after they requested that they [the mfr] report to CPSC, and no resolution has been reached.

No one hurt Made Jun 25, 2015, sent to the company Jul 6, 2015, published by CPSC Jul 20, 2015
The product, in the report: Resistance Tube Kit
Gold’s Gym Resistance Tube Kit has serious defects in the craftsmanship of the tubing connections. One of my tubes separated from the connecting point that holds the tube to the connection that allows the tube to connect to the handle. This tubing is not old or torn and should not separate. The person using the resistance tubes uses force to stretch the tubing to exercise. If the tube separates from its connection when a person is using the proper force to stretch the tubes, a serious accident can happen. Someone could loose an eye or seriously be injured. Fortunately, I wasn’t injured when my tube separated from its connecting point. STAMINA, who manufactures this product was not concerned at all about my experience with their equipment. I sent them a picture of the tube that separated and where it had separated. They didn’t care.

Golds Gym Trainer. Your Model Number: GGEL63910 Your Serial Number: DD910C05627
While using the noted trainer, part number 6 per the exploded view of the instruction manual located on the right side while operating broke at the weld. The weld holds the horseshoe shaped connector to the vertical tube. This is a structural component and supports the operators weight. It completely separated on the right side. The left side did not break off preventing the operator (me) from being thrown to the ground.

Emergency room Made Jun 26, 2013, sent to the company Jul 5, 2013, published by CPSC Jul 19, 2013
The product, in the report: Gold’s Gym Multipurpose Door Gym
My son was involved in a serious accident today with “Gold’s Gym Multi-Purpose Training Door Gym. It was assembled per instructions and came crashing down on him resulting in a fractured jaw and two teeth blown out. He received 5 hours of emergency dental work and won’t be back to full health for at least 1-2 months. This device doesn’t have an “Anti-Slip” measures that do not allow it to shift latterally to the right or left of the door frame. This isn’t the only time this is going to happen. This is a poorly designed device that’s dangerous.
UPDATE 7/2/13 FROM SUBMITTER: Upon further review, it appears my daughter did not read the instructions that came with this equipment and put this on a larger doorframe than is recommended by the manufacturer. This accident could have been avoided if she read the instructions.
