No incident, no one hurt Made May 3, 2024, sent to the company May 7, 2024, published by CPSC May 21, 2024
The product, in the report: Freemotion Treadmill (t 11.9 Reflex, model FMTL70817.2, serial # KK94029200177) i
When walking on my Freemotion Treadmill (t 11.9 Reflex, model FMTL70817.2, serial # KK94029200177) in manual mode, the treadmill unexpectedly inclined rapidly to a high level on its own. The treadmill also unexpectedly rapidly increased speed on its own while in this manual mode, which can pose a significant safety risk. I called the service technician who witnessed the same issue after starting treadmill in manual mode (treadmill inclining rapidly on its own within minutes of turning on). The treadmill was being used in a home gym for walking. I reported the issue to Freemotion and was told the unit is out of warranty and won’t be covered. I told them this is a dangerous and a safety risk and should be covered. I also asked if this was reported to their quality assurance/safety department and they said it was not. The did not cover the repair/replacement of the console. I was not injured but could have been significantly hurt when the unit when from 3.0 to 12.0 in seconds. There could have also been injuries when the treadmill went from a 0 incline to 15. The service technician also documented the safety issue. Service technician visits: 4/23 and 4/26. Freemotion still did not cover the repair and did not reassure me this was going to be submitted to their quality and safety team.
