  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made May 2, 2019, sent to the company May 10, 2019, published by CPSC May 24, 2019

The product, in the report: Elite Trainer which is a trainer that you hook a bike to taking off the back wheel of the bike. The Smart trainer then changes the power required to pedal. Basically it turns your bike into a stationary bike for training during winter, etc.

Here is the email I sent the US Distributor Basically, I had the bike fixed to the trainer and had ridden many times in place and many miles using an online [REDACTED] platform [REDACTED]. The bike is fixed to the Elite Drivo trainer which is manufactured in Italy. The bike’s back tire is fixed to the Elite Trainer using a skewer “axle” provided by the manufacturer. While riding the bike, the skewer bent and then the bike frame snapped, and I tipped over while clipped in and went through the closet, banging my hip and head and damaging the carbon, bike, the closet that I went through and my body.

The skewer was bent at the point on the left side where it fixes to the bike. This is extremely dangerous that the skewer failed while in operation. [REDACTED] Wed, May 1, 9:21 AM (23 hours ago) to [REDACTED]

[REDACTED], thanks for chatting with me today.

I reached out first through the place I bought it Endurance Cycling, Boise probably a couple of weeks ago. They said you couldn’t/wouldn’t help, since they are no longer Elite dealers. They suggested I reach out direct.

Then I emailed the Italian manufacturer yesterday.

I was riding on Zwift when it collapsed. I was out of the saddle and I weigh 240 lbs. The second photo is right after it collapsed. I had bruises on my hip, but did not sustain serious personal injury. I also broke the closet door as I went through it. I can send pictures of it if needed. You will notice in the 2d photo that the part of the bike that fits in the skewer snapped off.
