The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Emergency room

Made Sep 5, 2026, sent to the company Sep 11, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 25, 2026

The product, in the report: The Echelon Stride-50 RCX is a full-size, foldable home treadmill designed for walking, jogging, and running. It uses a 2.0 continuous-horsepower DC motor with 3.0 peak horsepower, reaches speeds of 1 to 12.5 mph, and provides a power incline from 0% to 15%. The treadmill has a wide 22-inch by 57-inch running deck with cushioning intended to reduce impact during use.

We were unpacking our Echelon Stride-50 RCX treadmill from its original packaging. While lifting the treadmill from the front end during the unpacking process, my partners hand came into contact with the hydraulic mechanism. His hand became wedged and tightly clamped in the mechanism, trapping his fingers and making it impossible for him to free his hand on his own.

The situation was severe enough that emergency assistance was required. Police and fire personnel responded to help free his hand. He was evaluated by a medic at the scene and subsequently went to the hospital, where he received medical treatment, including X-rays.

The product, in the report: Echelon Fitness Stride-S Auto-Fold Treadmill

When I first got the Echelon Stride-S treadmill I smashed my fingers in the hinge that allows the handlebar to fold. The handlebar crashes down if you are not very careful. Then seven months later the release button on the handlebar broke and they finally sent a new part. While trying to replace that part (I was told it was easy and I would have no problem fixing it myself), I crushed two fingers in the same hinge where the handlebar folds.

The manufacturer was contacted and they are in discussion about compensation.
