The product, in the report: QingSong Full Face Snorkel Mask for Adults & Kids, Snorkeling Gear with Camera Mount, 180 Degree Panoramic View Snorkel Set Anti-Fog Anti-Leak

QingSong Full Face Snorkel Mask for Adults & Kids, Snorkeling Gear with Camera Mount, 180 Degree Panoramic View Snorkel Set Anti-Fog Anti-Leak

Bought this product for 2 children age 9 and 7. Prior to use, product was assembled per instructions and fitted for each child. Both children did a very short test with them (1 minute) in bathtub and no problems were noted. Both children stated good seal and easy to use. Product was taken to trip in Bahamas for snorkeling. Product was again assembled and inspected prior to use. Mask was placed on both children without any noted issues or difficulty breathing. 7 year old began snorkeling with no issues of breathing or talking. In less than 5 minutes, 7 year old began complaining of severe frontal headache. 7 year old taken to shore and mask removed. 7 year old had severe headache for approximately 20 minutes. This headache slowly resolved prior to getting medical attention. As a healthcare professional, this headache correlates with hypercapnia from CO2 rebreathing. Few minutes after 7 year old taken to shore, 9 year old began complaining of headache and fatigue. 9 year old taken to shore and symptoms resolved approximately 15 minutes after mask removal. This is being reported as safety concern for hypercapnea from rebreathing CO2 which could lead to unresponsiveness and respiratory failure. Concern that CO2 is unable to clear appropriately from mask.

The product, in the report: Purchased via Amazon “QingSong Kids Snorkel Mask Full Face, Snorkeling Gear with camera mount, 180 degree panoramic view snorkeling set Anti-Fog Anti-Leak”. Size XS, pink color.

I noticed it seemed like my child was getting tired after she had the full face mask on for only a short time. She kept saying she was fine. When we had been out for maybe 10 minutes I saw her eyes roll back and she was unresponsive so I ripped the mask off while out in the ocean. She slowly regained consciousness after I had it off & was pulling her back to shore. I searched the net on these full-face masks and turns out this has happened to others, some dying. I also found a review for this exact mask whose kid landed in the hospital from passing out due to lack of oxygen. The mask was putchased from Amazon who told me to leave a review and seemed unconcerned about doing anything further to prevent a tragedy. The mask is from Amazon under “QingSong Kids Snorkel Mask Full Face…” My almost (in a few weeks) 4 yr old was using it. The mask was being used in ocean at the surface of the water (no diving, just standard snorkeling). Injury described above in initial text. Unknown if permanent damage was done.
