The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: OCEAN REEF - Aria QR + Quick Release Snorkeling Mask - Full Face Snorkeling Mask - 180 Degree Underwater Vision

I am reporting a serious safety issue with the OCEAN REEF Aria QR+ Full Face Snorkeling Mask, purchased from Amazon. While my husband was snorkeling, the quick release buckle suddenly detached when he tried to tighten the strap, causing the mask to loosen. To reattach the buckle, the mask must be fully removed and both hands are needed, making it impossible to swim or stay afloat during the process. This creates a high risk of drowning. Previous versions of this mask had a safer, fixed strap design, but this new buckle system is unstable and dangerous. I believe this is a major design flaw that should be investigated and recalled to prevent serious injury or death.
