The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: All details as described in product listing: [REDACTED]
My 5-year-old daughter was wearing a three-piece “mermaid” swimsuit -- a traditional two-piece bikini, plus a matching “mermaid tail.” It restricted her leg movement, but her hands were still free. She was in our inflatable kiddie pool, pulled the mermaid tail up to her shoulders, and tucked her arms inside. Then she went under the water and couldn’t use her arms or legs to get out. FORTUNATELY her older daughter was right there and pulled her out. She spent two days in the hospital but made a complete recovery.
I’m making this report because you can buy mermaid tail swimsuits anywhere online, but there are no warnings about this hazard. I realize that parents are ultimately responsible for their children’s safety, and we are still scarred that we did not see this happen with our own eyes.
I would advocate for a mandatory point-of-purchase warning on any swimsuit that can restrict movement, to make clear that mermaid tails especially simply should not be used in water by children.
