The product, in the report: Full face snorkel mask Material: plastic Color: purple pink Brand: G2RISE Lens type: single lens Strap type: detachable The product detail states that it: has a large chamber and a dual vent system to allow air to circulate in and out freely. It also completely separate circuits for fresh air and exhaled air, which means you will not breathe in the same air youve just exhaled. So it allows you to breathe through both your mouth and nose with minimal effort.
My 7-year-old daughter was using a full-face snorkel mask. After approximately 15 minutes of snorkeling, she suddenly developed a severe headache, became nauseous, cried from the pain, and nearly vomited. I immediately removed the mask and laid her in my lap. She then lost consciousness and experienced convulsions or muscle twitching for several minutes. Afterward, she remained extremely fatigued and slept for about 30 minutes before regaining full awareness.
Upon researching, I learned that full-face snorkel masks can trap exhaled carbon dioxide (CO), leading to CO buildup (hypercapnia). Her symptoms, headache, nausea, loss of consciousness, and convulsions, align with CO poisoning.
Since sharing this experience publicly, I have received multiple messages from others who have experienced similar or worse incidents, including a drowning death linked to this type of mask.
Injury: Severe headache Nausea Loss of consciousness Convulsions / muscle twitching Extreme fatigue
She has since recovered, but this could easily have resulted in death.

On September 7th, 2023 my wife and I were snorkeling at [REDACTED] in the island of Oahu, Hawaii. My wife was using a product that I now believe hurt her. It is my belief that this product resulted in flash pulmonary edema that lead to respiratory failure. There followed a cascading series of physiological events that ultimately resulted in cardiac injury. She almost died. The product that I believe caused this is a full face snorkeling mask.
