First aid Made Jun 3, 2023, sent to the company Jun 6, 2023, published by CPSC Jun 28, 2023
The product, in the report: Body Glove Junior Cove Swimming Diving Snorkeling Mask Blue/Orange, 7.63 x 3.25 x 5.37 Inches
I am filing this report regarding Body Glove Junior Cove Swimming Diving Snorkeling Mask. On 6/2/2023 a 9YOM was swimming in an above ground pool of approximately 48 inches in depth. The 9YOM dropped the swimming mask and the mask drifted to the bottom of the pool. Several seconds later the 9YOM retrieved the mask and was about to put them on when he noticed one large hole in the left eye piece with shards of glass and the right eye piece was shattered. The left eye piece had a hole approximately 2 inches by 2 inches. The shards of glass on the left eye piece were freely falling off with little to no effort. The shards were sharp and varied in size from approximately .25mm to 2.00mm. The only injury that occurred because of this product breaking was when an adult had to go into the pool to retrieve the broken shards from the pool bottom. The adult cut themselves on a shard as they were cleaning the bottom. The adult administered self-aid for a minor cut with no major injuries sustained.

Death Made Feb 9, 2023, sent to the company Feb 23, 2023, published by CPSC Mar 16, 2023
The product, in the report: Full Face Snorkel Mask - Body Glove Adult Aire Free Breathing Swimming Diving Snorkel Mask with [REDACTED] Mount (Black)
My father purchased a Body Glove Adult Aire Free Breathing Swimming Diving Snorkel Mask with [REDACTED] Mount (Black) from Costco in Maui, Hawaii in December 2021 and ultimately died on December 14, 2021 due to using the full-face snorkel mask. My father was a healthy 62 year old, experienced scuba diver and snorkeler who dove and snorkeled in Hawaii several times using standard snorkels and masks and never had health or safety issues in the past. His death occurred the first time he used the Body Glove Aire full face snorkel mask to snorkel (he tested it in the pool prior to using it to snorkel in order to properly fit the mask). It is believed that my father died from the full face snorkel mask causing rapid onset pulmonary edema. The mask arguably put additional strain on my father’s pulmonary system and rapidly led to my dad suffering from pulmonary edema, and death.
