The product, in the report: Metoluar Model WT0124 Professional Wireless Pool Thermometer. “Solar Powered Pool Thermometer with battery power option.”
I bought a Metoluar “Professional Wireless Pool Thermometer”, model WT0124, from Amazon. I followed the instructions exactly. Step 1 was “Insert Batteries Into Sending Unit”, so that is what I did using common [REDACTED] AA batteries. Step 2 was “Insert Batteries Into Receiver, and I did that. I then noticed that the Sending Unit was getting warm and then hot. I opened it and smelled melting plastic. I then noticed that the battery box was melting. I removed the batteries and found them hot enough to mildly burn my fingertips. The plastic jacket of the batteries also melted.
