No incident, no one hurt Made Jul 7, 2026, sent to the company Jul 17, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 31, 2026
The product, in the report: Intex pool pump cord plug
The ground-fault plug on Intex small-pool pumps is faulty. It allows water into the ground-fault housing, inevitably resulting in damage to the ground-fault circuitry that results in total failure of the plug. The two times it happened to me, the plug simply stopped passing electricity. But this was just lucky. It could have completely shorted out the wiring, causing electrocution.
I reported this to Intex, but both times they ignored my statements. (The most recent was July 1, 2026.
Someone is going to get electrocuted by this.

My 10 year old daughter was exiting an above ground pool on the ladder that came with it. Her foot slipped, causing her upper body and face to fall into the water. Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 21, 2016, sent to the company Aug 29, 2016, published by CPSC Sep 13, 2016
The product, in the report: Unsafe non-platform ladder. Falling through ladder. No warning about stepping on pool frame.
We have a Intex pool with a non-platform ladder. The ladder is very unsafe. Our family and friends are constantly falling through the middle of the ladder where a platform should be.
Intex tells me that they removed the platform to reduce injuries from jumping, however because of the ladders pool design it is almost impossible to get in and out of the pool without jumping from the ladder.
First the top rung of the ladder is the same height as the pool, however the handles are very low. I am only 5 feet tall and it is nearly impossible for me to hang on to the handles to turn myself around to go down the ladder. I typically will fall if I try so this forces us to go down the ladder facing forward causing people to slip off a rung at some point. This encourages people to jump from the top step of the ladder to avoid slipping down the ladder and injuring themselves.
Next the big open space and no platform causes people to unknowingly step on the pool frame while trying to turn around to go into or out of the pool. This is a huge hazard because the frame is typically wet from pool water. There are No Warnings on the pool or the ladder telling people they should avoid standing on the pools frame. When people step on the frame they slip through the center of the ladder and onto the pool frame.
The ladders are unstable to begin with because they do not attach too the side of the pool. Trying to balance the ladder and ones self while trying to turn around in order to enter or exit the pool is nearly impossible.
I have video of my 9 year old daughter who climbed up the ladder and turned around only to fall through the ladder while standing at the top.
[REDACTED] As you can see in the video, just turning around my daughter fell through the top ladder and even after she righted herself she was forced to jump from the ladder because she couldn’t keep her balance because there is no platform to stand on.
Index told me people shouldn’t stand on the top of the ladder - but that is impossible if one is to use the ladder. My children, our friends and myself have fallen through or from the ladder several times.
The ladder needs to be recalled and replaced with a platform ladder that mounts to the side of the pool.
