I purchased an electric motor for my pool pump. When connecting power to the motor, the spacings between the motor casing and the electrical terminal block were so tight that the insulation on the power supply wires was damaged. This resulted in a direct electrical short after a period of approximately 1 year. The short was not immediate because it took some time for the vibration of the motor to eventually cause the insulation jacket to wear thin enough to short out against the motor housing.
