The product, in the report: Sears grill
I have already filed a case [REDACTED]
We bought a Sears grill in 2009 my husband was using it and the grill knob melted off and flames shot from it. Sears responded to my complaint by giving me a number to call. I have already done that. They said they could send a tech out to look at it but it was going to cost over 100$ after talking with many managers they sent one out for free. Upon arrival the tech said he has seen this problem many times. He said because the knobs aren’t enclosed on the inside well spiders get in it and build a web. Then when you turn it on all the stuff in the web catches on fire melts the knob and fire shoots from the hole. We are lucky my husband wasn’t standing directly in front of the grill but off to the side or he would have been badly burned. Again we have the fire shooting out on video.
Sears is aware of this problem. They do not have the interior of their knobs closed off well allowing spiders and bugs to build nests that are flamable. It is apparently a common problem with this grill. They have done nothing to fix it nor have they done anything to warn people of this potential hazard!
