No one hurt Made Aug 23, 2022, sent to the company Feb 17, 2023, published by CPSC Mar 13, 2023
The product, in the report: Extension hose & regulator
The consumer has purchased 2 identical items from a physical retailer and an online retailer and the both presented the exact same problem.
Extension hose 2’ long (UPC: LPNME10319448) and a male/female end regulator (UPC: 047362846679)
The extension hose would not connect correctly to the regulator. One thread goes in, but will not screw in any further. He returned that product back to the dealer for a refund.
He then ordered the same identical products from Amazon and they had the same exact problem. The consumer said both products had the same UPC’s even though they were purchased from different retailors at different times. He plans to return these items to the retailor, while his has the opportunity.
He saw various comments online referencing the same problem. Therefore, this does not appear to be an isolated issue. It also puts consumer’s in the position of using an unsecure gas connection.

The product, in the report: Grill
Caller stated that the control knob is not designed for safety because when the cover is placed on the unit the cover hits the knob causing it to turn on this poses a fire hazard . He stated that he contacted the manufacturer but they advised him to unplug the unit after use. Refer to Attachment #1, note the instructions do not use Caution or Warning to advise unplugging grill. He feels that the control knob should be designed to push in to activate and turn preventing this hazard.

The product, in the report: Char-Broil Barbecue Commercial Model No. 463268008 barbecue/grill
On Saturday, Mar 10, 2012, Char-Broil Barbecue Model No. 463268008 knob caught on fire. The plastic knobs are highly flammable and when the knob caught on fire, my husband happened to look over and see it flaming high and melting onto our deck. If he had not seen it immediately, the deck would have likely caught fire and possibly burned the house. We spoke to representatives of Char-Broil who refused to take responsibility even though we told them we would be reporting this issue to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. My husband suggested the problem could be resolved by placing a metal washer on the shaft behind the knob so that the heat or flame cannot get to the plastic knob. Another solution would be to make the knobs out of metal or some other non-flammable material.

No one hurt Made Oct 26, 2011, sent to the company Nov 3, 2011, published by CPSC Nov 18, 2011
The product, in the report: Charbroil RED 4 burner Grill
On July 23, 2011 I purchased a CharBroil RED 4-burner infrared grill. Within two months of purchase, the labels for the settings of the burner began to peel off. Now three months later, the labels are nearly totally removed. This has created a SERIOUS safety issue, whereas it is becoming very difficult to tell if the burners are on or off. When I contacted CharBroil, they concurred that there was an problem with the grill. Their answer (case [REDACTED]) was that I could pay to have new parts shipped to me and either I could install them or I could pay someone to install the parts for me. When I refused to pay money so I could fix the defective grill they closed the warranty claim and considered it resolved. This is unacceptable for a grill with such a serious safety defect that is only 3 months.
